I guess they have to do drug testing after Tim Payne incident. Too bad it was not done earlier I hope they also check for alcohol use during working hours also.

She wanted Dahlgren shut down because it made her dog nervous when they shoot down river. That was several years ago. She has been whinning about something ever since she got to CB.
It had to take years for her yard to get in the shape it was, long before her husband passed away. Nothing wrong with your post. And MS Davis is just doing her J O B I am sure the neighbors will be glad to have that mess cleaned up.

Thanks to Ms Davis, if all yards looked like this one, Colonial Beach would look like the annex to KG land fill.
We have lots of people who cant do yard work, but somehow it gets done.
Good job for the Boy Scouts to help our. Or any civic group. Jr rescue, Fire Dept cadets. I am sure I got the name of the groups wrong, But you get the idea.

I wonder if they would give her a drug test or is she one of the chosen few that have freedom to do what they want. I bet she couldn't pass a drug test

I was approached yesterday by a women named Teresa Davis. I was insulted because she told me my yard was "an eyesore. And that I had 30 days to "clean it up and get rid of the junk." I feel threatened and embarrassed. But most of all, i feel she was rude. Let me know if I am the only one. Thanks. When I tried to tell her that i lost my husband in Oct,she would not budge.

Teresa is doing her job and she should have been there much sooner like years.
Who gets after people for never cleaning up after their dog.

I agree that everyone should put effort towards keeping their yards cleaned up. We are in a town with most yards about 50 feet wide leaving no room for trash, and plenty of neighborly views. If the city would have a large item pick up day I'm sure it would help.

Now the problem I hear with the "code enforcer" is her unfair method of enforcement. Before she makes a decision in her travels to pay a visit to a certain yard, or call that resident about it, she needs to take a good look around at other yards nearby. Why is the public perception that she's targeting certain homes and not others?

A better method may be for her to work a half block, or a block at a time. Work with the residence or landlord in that block until the problems are cleaned up. Work another block next.

Apparently this person isn't thought of too well and doesn't get much respect from the residence. Does she need some classes in PR? Why is she allowed to continue or even want to continue doing her job in the same manner. If people complain about the way most of us do our jobs, are we told we must change, or else?

As for the women with problems..I'm sorry for your loss.

The code enforcement person is probably someone who is uneducated and now have a little bit of power. Has no class or PR experience in dealing with the public, remember she works or he works for the citizens of the town. A PUBLIC EMPLOYEE, This town is a joke with their enforcement of their rules and regulations. Get a life and revitalize the town with groth and businesses. Quit trying to run people out of town.

Theresa has a difficult job. To "Outsider", your observation or opinion, that this lady is uneducated and the rest of your uniformed post is totally B.S.

I love the "Al Gore" internet, it lets people who don't have balls, post B.S. without letting anyone take responsibility for what they post.

Theresa seems a very nice person.
I actually don't see her being rude to anyone, however some people would never clean up if someone is not very streight foreward with them.
I CAN tell you that people won't come here to live when they see all the junk in yards around here.

Code enforcement anywhere is tough.

It is harder elsewhere such as in some of the big counties like Prince William, and Fairfax where they have 3+ inspectors.

We need someone to point out problems.

It is so nice to see the Town stepping up to praise a Town employee. Is this the first time.
Anyone negative like Outsider should just go away.

Jennifer, if you would stop being the poor Widow,
you are milking it a little to long. I know you are used to everyone doing things for you. You have to step up. You should be in the second stage. Anger. I knew your husband, its such a tragedy. He was a very nice man, I know your grief is deep.
How did your yard get in such bad shape. Step up and help your self and your friends and neighbor will help you
Whoa whoa whoa!! Obviously you are not a mental health professional. Any qualified practitioner will tell you in a heartbeat that the five stages of grief, or seven depending on which model you subscribe to, are different for everyone and that NOBODY can tell you how, or how quickly, to grieve. Not only that, the stages are not necessarily completed in order. Wow. I thought I had had some insensitive things said to me when I began the grieving process one year and three months ago, but this comment surpasses any that were made to me. I am grieving to this day, and I AM a mental health professional. Unbelievable.

That's a ridiculous statement. Anyone tasked with enforcing rules or policies risks becoming a scapegoat and the object of ridicule when they DO THEIR JOB. People don't like to be called on their b.s. and instead of taking responsibility and making corrections, they attempt to reverse the focus back to whomever it is that's enforcing the rule. It gets old having to ask adults to do what they should have been doing all along. To do it with cheerfully while spewing sunshine and rainbows just isn't always possible, and that has nothing to do with lack of education.I empathize with her.

Teresa is doing her job. It would be nice if Council and the Town Manager did their jobs, as the reported abuse by certain town supervisors include harassment, humiliation, threats, prescription drug abuse, and braggarts of getting stoned each night.
