You completely missed the point. The council hired consultants who only had one previous government client. Val turned on her charm, and yes, the consultants told council that they are the problem. What do you expect when you have an expert PR person (Val) presenting herself as the victim? Everything you read now she blames on "not having direction" from council. The consultants gave her exactly what she wanted - an excuse - and she will use that until either she decides to retire or the council grows some nerve. And I want to know why Farneth only gave one side of the story.
So what, you don't expect Foulds to defend herself, Your claiming the results of the consultant firm are because she being a good PR person yet you have problems with her Public Relations? I have news for you, PR STANDS for Public Relations.

Your also letting the consultant firm off the hook (because Foulds is a good PR person) by saying they have only had one other governmental client.

By the same token you are putting down the council for their choice in consultant groups and putting them down for not accomplishing Your agenda!

Do you even think before you type?

As for this reporter, What is the other side of the story that he missed? Why don't you submit an article telling that side, Because if you have told it, I'm missing it too. Unless your talking about all your assumptions.

Please enlighten us!

It seems to me that all you have to say is negative and you are attacking everyone. I really hope you, with all your wisdom, get off your butt and run in the next election. I believe Brubaker is still an appointed member, which means she has to run to fill the seat at the next available election. There is your chance to turn this town around!

Very well said Mr Seeber and Mr Edwards are the only ones that will speak the truth and they are great for Town and Towns welfare I have a lot of respect for them two the Council would be lost without those two. Hats off to them two.. I am Rick Davis and I approve this message

Seeber, Chiarello, and Brubaker are up for election/reelection in 2014.

The council could change completely, let's see some of those bitching about "Come Here's" stand up and run. Yes, again, people bitch because the council is not people who have been here forever.(Yet, Seeber has been, and Curtin grew up here.)

They bitch because the press in town aren't from here (one has been here since she was a little girl, the other has been here 20+ years.)

Screw this born here/come here BS. We are all here and that is what matters!

From last week's Journal:

...Next, Goforth asked for a copy of Whitestone’s report. The council hired Whitestone earlier in the year to evaluate town employees and the way the town is being run.

Foulds explained that the invoice and contract did not list a report, and that everything that was paid for by the town was delivered. A debate (over whether there was a report) continued for several minutes, resulting in Foulds offering to get in touch with Whitestone and request a copy of any report they have.

No report?? The taxpayers paid $17,500, and Foulds is claiming that receiving a report was not in the contract? How absurd is that? Of course there was a report. That's what consultants do. They analyze and then they issue a report. Val just doesn't want anyone to see it because it totally slammed her job performance as a town manager. Why did council not receive the report in the first place? Val didn't hire these consultants. Town council hired them and the taxpayers paid for it. Council needs to get this report straight from the consultants, not through Foulds. Enough of the nonsense.

From Tim Curtin on this thread, May 10, 2013:

"As for the consultant results: When we're done with them, I'll be sure to make their results available through a source accessible to all.
We spent a lot of your tax money, and we're not done yet getting the advice and guidance from them that was paid for. In the meantime, please be patient."

Val,

Any luck yet getting that $17,500 taxpayer funded report from Whitestone?

Good point. Tim, we're still waiting for you to make those results available. Maybe you should pick up the phone and call Whitestone.

Did anybody ever find that elusive consultant report that we paid $17,500 for? As reported back in the Journal last October:

From what I recall, all of the town employees were interviewed and results were tabulated and presented in a meeting. Foulds was given very poor marks for job performance. Then somehow things got twisted and council was blamed for not directing her well enough. Then we never got the written report and Foulds is still there running the town into the ground. As the article states, Goforth asked for the report, Foulds said she'd request a copy from Whitestone, and then we never heard another thing. Why is Foulds the contact with Whitestone in the first place? She's the one being evaluated. Why did Whitestone not present the report directly to council? Where is it? That's $17,500 of your money down the drain. What a joke of a town. What do you think?

Foulds was not given a bad report. In fact, they did state, repeatedly, that the town council was the main problem with the town at that point. Of course council hasn't said anymore about it, they don't want the reminder.

I have to work today so I can't make the meeting. What a shame, I'd like to ask them if they ever got that report.

How can these people come in to a Town for a few days and come to a accurate conclusion of the system and personalitys?A lot of their time was spent with Val Foulds and She can be very charming and convincing when needed. The Council is more aware of whats going on,They may have just wanted an outside opinion to win citizen approval. If the council does not feel good enough about their managers then that should be enough for the to have the guts to take action.A 17000 dollar second opinion was a waste.Council were put in place to run the Town whats the problem?

Town Council has issues. They are spinning in circles on the same few things and getting nothing done.

Last night, again, a public hearing was held on Eleanor Park and the Boardwalk properties. How many times has this happened now? No decisions are ever made, the same people say the same things , time and again, and nothing happens.

The consultants were called in to get rid of Val Foulds. Some of our council only came onto it to get rid of her. They haven't found reasons to do so.

It's a damn witch hunt. We spent 17,500 for a witch hunt. It didn't turn out the way the council wanted, so, let's brush it under the rug.

Things we need in a council: Members that don't lecture everyone (ie, Jim Chiarello, watch his comments, they are always a lecture, and often wrong.)

Members without a vendetta against one town employee.(Goforth, Chiarello, Brubaker)

Members who can stay on topic.(the whole damn bunch of them)

A mayor who isn't so nice. Ham is a nice guy, however, he needs to be a bit stricter and use that damn gavel.

People who have a long term tie to the town. Seeber is the only one on council who has been here more than a few years. We need members who have a tie to CB as more than their retirement town.

We need a couple younger members. I would love to see Robin Schick run for council. She is intelligent, educated, and well-spoken.

Ones who understand how council is supposed to work. They are not supposed to be overseeing every little thing the town employees do. It is over reach and why things don't get done properly.

We have several up for re-election this year.(or election in Brubaker's case.) They have to file by June, I hope we have more choices this time around.
