Does anyone remember the Mr. Pearson who managed these hotels? New Ambassador as in maybe late 60's, and New Atlanta early 70's?
Also there was another family that took over Ambassador hotel, and I cannot recall their name. They owned a farm somewhere near Oak Grove I believe. Several sons, and their mom lived there and helped run the hotel.
Thanks!

Mr. Pearson was my father. He passed away in 2009. My dad and mom both managed the Ambassador Hotel & Restaurant then the New Atlanta Hotel in the late 60's early 70's. I was excited to see this post and that someone remembered him. He loved the Beach. My mother still resides in CB.

I believe the Cunningham's bought the Ambassador after my folks. I believe both her & her husband have since passed away.

ksp: I have wonderful memories of your whole family. I spent a lot of time with your mom and dad, Carl, Drew, Valerie (my best friend) and there was a little sister, can't remember her name. You lived above the New Atlanta at the hotel. Also on the corner at the white house near the fire station. So sorry to hear about your dad. Is your mom still in CB?

Is your last name Whetzell? I'm not sure if I spelled it correctly or not. I'm the little sister Kellie. My mom still resides in CB. Valerie has a weekend/summer home here to. If you get down this way please look us up. We would enjoy reminiscing. Thanks for your condolences.

Yes, my mom was a Sunday School Teacher at the Temple Baptist Church in Alexandria. We were always back/forth between Alexandria and Colonial Beach - Until the both retired to CB in the early 80's.

KSP,

The Museum will be digitizing donated (Scanned) photos soon. Please ask the Museum Docent to check the donation form to digitize them.

It would be great to have some on this website or the new Town Blog (Going live soon?)

2SIPS,

Oh My! In a small town when we start talking about who dated who a long time ago before they got married we can sure get into a pickle.

I know a certain longtime town leading citizen who sees many of his ex-girlfriends from his youth almost daily.

Yes, that was his nickname!! I don't recall your folks, not sure if I knew them or not. I do recall a friend of his named Scotty that drove a cab in Alexandria.

to ksp: Yes my last name is Whetzel. I will look you up if I get to CB. I still live in Northern Va area, does Valerie live anywhere close to Quantico? Kellie, you were just a small child when I knew you. Did your dad run the Ambasssador Hotel first, then New Atlanta? I remember visiting you at a home on 9th St too I think. I'd love to catch up!
