Police investigate deaths of 2 in upstate NY home

Authorities are investigating the shooting deaths of two people whose bodies were found inside a Hudson Valley home.

Marital problems is probably putting it very lightly. I get very aggravated as there must have been a serious domestic violence issue within the home. "Marital Problems" puts the blame on both. Let's stop keeping domestic violence behind closed doors, and start adressing the real issues. If for any reason definitely for awareness. Maybe the next victim can be saved before it's too late.

I think you are too quick to judge. I believe the "marital problems" were not "domestic violence". I have no proof, but here is a quote from the Poughkeepsie Journal, "There was no prior evidence of violence between the Conways; however, police said they were experiencing marital problems in recent weeks. Conway also was recently laid off from his job."
Please think before you judge.

I think we are both judging if you really take a look at both of our prospectives on this horrible situation. However you may be correct, but in my profession I also know that domestic violence is often kept a "secret" and for many good reasons. we may never know the families situation, but just because there were no known instances of domestic violence doesn't mean it did not occur. To take a look further the police state there were recent marital problems, but what does that actually mean?? Either way there was a problem, right?? I almost feel like the paper quoting that Mr. Conway lost his job was giving the public a "reason" for what he has done. Keep in mind that doemstic violence is all about control, and often an abuser takes his/her anger out on their partner, even when they have nothing to do with the problem at hand. I think it is easy to sympathize with this man because he took his life too, poor him??? If he was still alive the only blog about him would be " Stone cold murderer"!!! There is no excuse!!!!

Please try to understand that many are hurt in these situations on both sides. Murder-suicide is not about domestic violence as much as most would like to think-that would actually be an easy answer. The truth is very good people when they are in severe pain, physically, emotionally, and/or mentally and make very wrong decisions. There are so many that no one sees coming-yes there are a percentage that is domestic violence, reported or not, but it is not the overwhelming norm! In 2008, 508 murder-suicides occurred in America-that we know about from news reports; 1082 people died-someone's loved ones. This included 100 children dead in murder-suicides. Another 89 people were wounded but survived the murder-suicide attempt-9 were children. 284 children that we know of-there are many more though-we left without parents.
