That is so sad. My thoughts are with the families and victims. What started out so peaceful, ended horrendously.

A similar accident occurred last year.These balloons should have a locking device on their quick connect hoses and a quick lock for the gas tanks before the hand turn valve... rip...

flightman please check your figures. the amount of accidents per flight of a airplane vs balloon-there is just not egough flights in non steerable contraptions where you can make a feeble statement like that and be accurate.

I am sad for the pilot and those injured, but why do people put themselves in these situations? Think about it: taking a wicker basket and attaching ignited propane to lift you hundreds of feet in the air, and then people are surprised when it ends tragically. We are at enough risk everyday in cars but cars are alot more neccessary than flying around in a balloon for fun.

Can't we just say we're sorry for the loss of the people involved without turning it into a national debate? One man lost his life and several others were seriously burned -- you all have our prayers!
