the katrina cottages are better than 90% of the houses that were destroyed in bay st. louis before the storm. they are probably as well built or better than 90% of the houses that people are getting permits to rebuilt right now. why waste this valuable resource? let's use them and make them work so that they meet all requirements that any other residential property must meet.do the city leaders realize that you must start a fire with kindling? start small and get people back living in the community. retail will follow and more people will come in turn.

Wait, what? Better than 90 % of the houses prior to Katrina? Do you live in Bayside?

Our cottage is the first to be raised in Waveland. We are excited and tired. We have had to move everything out of the cottage and move into an RV for the next 1 to 3 weeks while they are putting in our pilings and concret. Thrn they will bolt our HOME to the pilings. Now that our cottage will be a home it is classified differntly with insurance. Ours droped. When it comes to your cottage to be raised, INSIST that they leave it on your property to do the work. If not, your cottage will go to Landon rd. for 3 to 6 weeks. Can you afford to live somewhere else while MEMA has your cottage? I know we can not. Good luck to all of you who are keeping your cottages. Just remember to insist on them NOT MOVING your cottage off of your property while the work is being done.

these houses are rated up to 130mph...they have hardi plank siding, metal roofs, nice windows and doors. they are also well proportioned and nicely detailed. i believe them to exceed the quality of many of the houses that were there before the storm and many of the ones i see being constructed since in the city of bay st. louis. the only argument that i could use against them is that they contain less square footage than most other houses and that concerns residents who either have larger homes or those who are planning on rebuilding their homes. I believe it is more important to repopulate the area now and generate tax revenue for the county. this is the fastest way for the area to revive. these houses will either be replaced or recieve additions over time.

Daily Horoscope for December 7

Aquarius

You're full of energy and determination right now, especially when it comes to nailing an ambition or making a name for yourself. You'll want to give it your best shot, and you'll get very annoyed if you feel your efforts are being frustrated by others. Watch out for a rather tense atmosphere with someone older or more influential than you, as this could lead to a row.
