He should resign if found to be guilty.

But since he is an elected official, he'll probably get some special deal and all will be forgotten. After all, isn't that how it works?

If found guilty, he should resign. If you 'serve the public' then you are held to a higher standard than the rest. It's that simple.

This WTNH article follows the Courant style manual: if a Dem, party affiliation appears no earlier than the 4th paragraph. If Republican, it is in the headline.

This isn't the first time he's gotten pulled over for DUI - just the first time he's been arrested. Those special legislative plates get you a lot of exceptions on the road.

If guilty, as a public leader, he should be hammered (no pun intended) by the courts. None of this "Kennedy" type special treatment.

In regards to "Melissa's" bring up: Besides "special priviledges" what are those legislative plates good for anyway?

If you dont see the R you already know its a Democrat. I hope the fool wasnt in a State Car? We would foot the legal bill if there was an accident.

Everyone makes a mistake!! He was pulled over for speeding (not becauce he was swerving) and the cop probably asked if he had been drinking and he admitted it. He is a good guy and a great state rep. I fully believe he will make things right.

He should move to Montville, the would have a job for life there. They relected their convicted DWI state rep a few years back.

Just a man of the people.

Be nice. While I certainly don't condone drinking & driving, the reality is he has been an amazing rep. and that is why we elected him. However it seems sometimes in American we persecute our elected officials for their private lives (i.e. marital affairs) and yet allow our politicians to get away with crimes while doing their elected jobs (i.e. distortion of the constitution).

The rest of the world thinks we’re crazy. Maybe all our sensationalized reality TV has fogged our sense of priority.

State Representative Brian O'Connor has been an asset to the citizens of Clinton, Kilingworth, and Westbrook for over seven years. He has made many great contributions to these towns and we are very fortunate to have him represent us. It's very easy to criticize after one makes a mistake. Let's just remember that we're all human.
