Durham Horse Crematory Plan Has Friends, Foes

Blaschke and partner Dominic Gambardella of North Haven are seeking permission to install the crematory - an 8-by-12-by-14 vault that burns at 1,800 degrees - in the Orzick Drive business park, off Route 68.

I agree that a crematorium should be allowed. I have had my faithful dogs and cats cremated so why cant my beloved horse have a peaceful resting place. These animals have as much respect and love that my human relatives do.

I would be curious as to the facts, figures, statistics, etc. regarding the statement that burying can cause 'serious enviornmental contamination'. I cannot be any worse that burying people. Afterall, people are embalmed - horses and other animals are not.

the horses are euthanized. but the euthanization process puts chemicals in to the animal and when the animals starts to decompose the chemicals leak into the ground. and it is different then burying a human, the human is buried in a box and that usually prevents the liquids from leaking. the horses are just thrown into a hole.
