Who did this individual think he was going to "fight"? Medical personnel, by Geneva Convention, are prohibited from carrying arms. And, when the gave him his MD, didn't he take some kind of oath-besides the one that he swore when he became a commissioned officer? Give him the chair - and gas him in case the power goes out.

This could just as easily have occurred to a Christian like it did to Timothy McVeigh. The fact that Hassan volunteered for induction into the Army, opted for medical training, and then entered the field of psychiatry tells us that he once had a moral compass and a healing, helping disposition. He wanted to be the catcher in the rye. When the horror of our real war in Islamic nations came home to him, he self medicated with religion. When religion only increased his cognitive dissonance, his moral choices narrowed and he cracked. The investigation will probably conclude that he was in a dis-associative state when he went berserk. These pressures exist in fundamentalist Christianity, just as they do in Islam. The problem is fundamentalism, which is alive and well all over our country. Recall the teabaggers who felt the desire to bring loaded guns to Presidential speeches.

Please tell us: What does carrying a firearm LEGALLY and in accordance to the laws of the US have to do with an extremist Muslim who leeched as much as he could from our country, before betraying us in the most heinous of ways?

27. That's the total in years I served in the military. Quite frankly, early on (early '80s) I was indoctrinated pretty quickly about how discrimination against people who were "different" than the standard G.I. would not be tolerated. From religion to race, personal values to professionalism, we were on equal footing. The kid from Hoboken, Peoria, San Jose whose parents (or often parent) tried to teach the right way to be an American, rather than any other way, was no different than the kid from Manila, Nome, or the reservation. If there was a perception of differences in treatment, all one had to do was speak up, and it was fixed. Of course, those were nuances I noticed in the enlisted world. I can't speak for officers and their world, though I suspected that there was a dog-eat-dog mentality as officers jockeyed for promotions and key positions. To me, it sounds as if Hasan wanted someone to pay for his schooling, but then decided he didn't want to have to pay anyone back for it. It might then have manifested into something bigger as his apparently unstable mind frantically grasped at straws, before finding the one that would fix all his issues. Sad, strange, by certainly not typical of the usual American G.I.

Native Guy wrote: The guy has a point: Christianity is THE most murderous organization in HISTORY. NO ONE has murdered more people than the Christians. In the past 2.000 years Christian's have murdered MILLIONS of people who dared to question their superiority. when christian's murder than cite god as an excuse for violating their own tenets of Thou Shall Not Kill. Messed up!!! christians needed to be exterminated for the good of humanity. <quoted text> Saddam Hussein, Muammar Quaddafi, and so, so many other muslim leaders who have exterminated even their own people. Oh, and then cited the Quran to legitimize their obscene, illegal actions. Get over the fact that there are leaders and people in EVERY religion who kill other human beings by the millions. For this world and what it is, we are all to blame. Focus on the restoration of dignity to the shooting victims, their families and friends of those whose world's changed forever at Fort Hood, and perhaps you can do some good, rather than destroying, something at which you proclaim Christians are good.

Stop accepting muslims into the United States Armed Forces please. A complete lack of these fanatical lunatics in any form of military or other vocation such as airplane pilot, skydiving coach, pyrotechnic, chemicist, doctor, dentist, surgeon, bus driver, school teacher or anything in which the Allah switch can pop on and make them go Lalalalala and fire upon us, that would be a fine thing.

But see, the disturbing thing is that ANYONE with less than half a brain can be lulled into this fanatical Muslim mind set.

No doubt Major Hasan will come to regret his actions in time. Hopefully you will come to regret your advocation of killing innocent people for no reason.

Army: Suspect said `Allahu Akbar!' before shooting http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091106/ap_on_re_... FORT HOOD, Texas – The base commander at Fort Hood says soldiers who witnessed a shooting rampage that left 13 people dead reported that the gunman shouted "Allahu Akbar!" before opening fire at the Texas post. Lt. Gen. Robert Cone told NBC's "Today" show on Friday that suspected shooter, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, made the comment, which is Arabic for "God is great!" before the rampage Thursday that also left 30 people wounded. more at news.yahoo.com ... ---------- Islamic attack on US Armed Forces. The enemy is an orthodox Muslim. He is seen the morning of the attack in traditional Muslim garb, he had "Allah" written on his front door, he shouted the traditional "Allahu Akbar" cheer before attacking. However PC will prevent the media and the government from reaching an obvious truth. So it should be entertaining watching them twist them selves into torturous knots trying to avoid the painful conclusion that Islam is not the religion of peace. I am not sure that he needed to be "pushed", except by an ideology. The New York City Police Department's Report on Homegrown Terrorism describes something called "autonomous Jihad" in referring to acts of Jihad that are motivated by Salafi ideology, but are not the result of a centrally coordinated effort. The issue is not whether he acted alone, or was part of a cell. The question is whether his actions were motivated by Jihadist ideology. Kudos to General Cone for violating PC restraints.I'm guessing he will be reprimanded and/or reassigned soon. Imagine if the killer had been handing out Bibles instead of Korans prior to his attack, would the media treat it as a peripheral , unrelated matter? I somehow doubt it.

No...medical personnel are NOT prohibited from carrying arms. They are prohibited from the carrying and use of crew served and offensive weapons, such as crew served and heavy machine guns or grenade launchers....medics ALWAYS carry at least a pistol to defend themselves and thier patients. Chaplains, Rabbi's, ministers, etc; are the only category of Military members that are prohibited from the carrying of weapons.

As a former US soldier, all I can say is you're welcome, for fighting for your freedom of speech, to write such ignorant things about American soldiers, who fight for your freedom. You're welcome and I am glad to have serve in the armed forces, even though I had to defend ignorant people such as yourself. My heart goes out to the victims families. I hope you feel good about yourself saying such things about people who fight to protect you.
