Hold on lil lady. Who told you about this "black list"? I'd do some more checking. Check into houses that are for rent by personal owners. People not using a rental company to rent their house out.

If you are really attached to ya'lls dog there's no reason to get rid of him. Tell me who you've already spoken to and I'll see if I can help you find a place.

There is no such thing as a black list. The only place in the country that even has breed specific laws, or BSL is Washington, DC. Homeowner's insurance policies warn against renting to people who own: Rottweilers, Dobermans, German Shepherds, Pit Bulls, and Chow Chows. I myself own an American Staffordshire Terrier that is very commonly mistaken for a pit bull. I rented a house and simply didn't disclose his breed. I said I had a mutt. Unless you rent from someone who has a specific weigh limit, they can't argue if they happen to see the dog. If you say I have a dog that weighs 70lbs, for instance, but you don't know what it is...they can't argue if they see what they THINK is a 70lb Siberian Husky. Just like when my rental company (not a priveta party, but a large rental company) heard from the maintenance man about our dog. We said yeah we know how big he is, but we don't know WHAT he is, and you're a rental company not the AKC. At any rate, we have our housing and will be moving on post soon. If you're still freaked out and don't want to get rid of a family member you can contact me anytime at curciosis_infection@yahoo.com. He can stay with us until you get housing! There really isn't any reason to just take things like this at face value. People in general are afraid of dogs and the damage they cause to properties. Don't give up your dog just because one person said you have to. P.S: In on post housing every other person has a quote unquote "black-listed" dog.

Hi

My name is Vikki and I am with a rescue group downstate on L.I. Where can I get a list of the other breeds you mentioned. That is disgusting. I agree with you. Our guys put their lives on the line to keep some of these morons safe and then when it comes to keeping a pet that has adored them and depends on them it becomes another story.

Hi there we were trying to get on post housing and the housing person said we could have a Doberman but the village said she was on a no no list for pets.SO shall we say I got caught on post with a Doberman what would happen? Because we are having such a hard time finding housing with her the way it is. I will not give up my dog.... If there is a will there is a way.

You do not have a Constitutional, or any right, to have a dog in a rental apartment. You make me laugh. Maybe you should read the Constitution sometime. The property owner has a right to set whatever terms they want, and if you dont like it, too bad.

Don't worry. There are so many vacant properties in this town that if you show up with cash in one hand the landlord won't care if you're holding the leash of a chewbaca in the other.

my family cried kus we had to get rid of our family member(pitbull)due to how the landlords are about NO PETS ALLOWED i hated putting her down and then seeing my kids go thru all the heart ache and pain over it. We looked so hard to find a home good enough for the whole family but no luck.SO TO ALL THE FAMILIES PLAN ON MOVEING HERE make sure u do not have pets. the landlords do have that right to say no but my question to them landlords is....WOULD U PUT YOUR KIDS DOWN JUST TO MOVE IN A HOME OR APT? because thats what u are doin to the familes who have dogs or other animals. You gotta understand pets are part of the family to. My baby was part of the family she has been in my family life for 13yrs before we came to kill-een. Best of luck on finding a home out here for the WHOLE family

You can ask about something called an exception to the policy. You should be approved with that breed. I will tell you that I live on post and the people behind me have a Doberman pinscher. If they got it, I would think you could. It's worth a shot. Hope this helps at all.
