Well, this is an unusual hobby. One day Mr. McFadden's collection will end up in some museum someplace.
Mebbe he could put it on display at Akron's city hall, since all of the milksop's already hang out there. |

Theres a smile on that fellows face!!
Looks as he is having a lot of fun doing what he wants. I don't believe he was ever waiting in line for a gameboy. |

I would love to know if Mr. McFadden has a milk bottle from my friend's dairy in Ravenna in Portage County, it was called Crescent Hill Dairy.
The original barn is still standing! |

Are you an idiot or what? This hobby is interesting to people unlike yourself who never had the privilege of knowing a simpler time. You ought to be ashamed, but I'm sure you can't help it. |

HOW AWESOME!!!
I am truly amazed a the sight of this lovely collection! The McFaddens are very lucky to have this great collection! |
The Crescent Hill bottles can be found in the Ravenna area. I have a couple of them. They do not have Ravenna on them, but have Crescent Hill Dairy and I think the owners name embossed on the bottles. |

Nice human interest story. Keep them coming.

In all those bottles, we don't have one from Crescent Hill Dairy. We list it in our book...with E.F. Barnett as the owner. We'll keep looking for a bottle...sounds like they are around! Thanks! By the way, our e-mail is suzannem@sssnet.com if anyone wants to write. |

I have a half pint milk bottle that says: Beller's Dairy, Dover, O. Have you ever heard of that. I was going to do research but don't know how. Very nice article

We are glad to take orders by mail. Just mail a check for $50 (cost of book is $45 plus mailing of $5) to Lou McFadden, P.O. Box 66, Winesburg, OH 44690, and we will send the book by return mail. Thanks! |

My Grandfather, Charles Beck, had a bottling plant under the name Beck's Dairy, first in Springboro (Warren County) and then in Middletown (Butler Co), Ohio. Also, my wife's grandfather delivered milk in Cincinnati for Townsend West Dairy.
Are either of these part of your collection or listings? |
Hello Jim. Interesting to hear about your grandfather's dairy. We have a listing for Beck's (Charles Beck, owner) in Springboro that we show eventually became a Receiving Station for Sealtest. We also have a listing in Middletown for Beck's Dairy Farm (Charles L. Beck) that then was known as Beck's Dairy...and we show eventually sold to Borden's Dairy. Hope that is right! We don't have a bottle from either of those. We also list Townsend West Dairy in Cincinnati, and have embossed and painted bottles from there. Thanks for your comments! Sue McFadden

My father operated the Sharon View Dairy in Licking County with milk routes in Newark and Granville during the 1930s & early 40s. I would love to know if you have a bottle in your collection. I have a photo of him at the bottling machine. He had to give it up during WWII when he could not get help or gas, but continued to supply Denison University with milk in 5 gallon cans.

Would like to know if you have a bottle from Hyde Park Dairy that was located in Cincinnati, Ohio. Wm Funke owned this dairy that was in the Hyde Park area where Rookwood is now.
We've "talked" by e-mail. We do have a Sharon View embossed pint from Newark. So many bottles from the old dairies were crushed or taken to the dump when the dairy closed; no one then thought they'd be valuable some day!
We do have a pint bottle with the writing Hyde Park Dairy, Wm. C. Funke, embossed on it. Do you have a family connection to the dairy or just remember it?

I have many milk bottles, most of them retrieved during home remodeling jobs. A lot of homes just dug holes to dispose of non-compostable items instead of having a trash service. I've found tons of stuff in old cisterns and in random places that I have dug up in yards to start a project.
