My understanding is that Skeeter has mismanaged his budget for the last two years and is now trying to fix a problem. It is Skeeter who is proposing this plan and while there are no pay cuts involved, he is reducing Overtime, which certainly affects our pay. I understand the County Manager has heard our complaints about the Management team and not only will those issues be address but supposedly we are not going to suffer the reduction in overtime or at least in our pay.

They should deprive them of food. Why are EMS workers so obese?

I appreciate our EMS workers. They have saved more than one of my friend's life.

This stupid scheme will affect the health and safety of our community, and I'm not beyond backhanding somebody over it.

How do you mismanage money for two years when there is an annual audit, he's the fall guy. Let me ask outloud, what is really the deal?

The budget is over because Dare County EMS is short handed, so employees are having to cover extra shifts. When the budget was created it used a full staff. But because EMS is not full staffed those positions used all overtime pay to fill.

Lets face it, Judge, Outten, and Clawson have been doing the County employees dry for the past five years. Its as simple as that. They are the government equivelent of Wall Street bankers, they make BIG $$$$$, but keep hacking away at the little people. You think this would be going on if Mac Midgett, Terry Wheeler, and Bobby Owens were still there. I can assure you not. It is one effed up deal, this County is being run aground.

Hahahahahaha!

That right there is funny! Man makes more off retirement than 95% of active employees, and you think he wouldn't gouge them too?

Wheeler screwed the little employees and looked after himself and a few of his crony department heads.

Wheeler started at the bottom and worked his way up, never kissed EOD's a$$, and fought for employess which is how they got everything that got taken away once he left. You ain't got much up there now...that's all there is to it.

Really?

Political influence didn't get him in that cushy job after a failed NC Highway Patrol stint?

Wheeler's salary went from $20,000 to $65,000 in twenty years, which is normal for most government workers. Then it went from $65,000 to over $230,000 (plus end of year bonuses) in less than ten years, which was a result of politics. In other words the public was screwed.

Thanks for that informative salary history EOD..ah I mean "State Trooper" The EMS went from a station-wagon/meat-wagon to a 12 station state of the art life-saving department with jet-helo service during that same time frame.

Anybody want to bet that Little Joe isn't a high paid county employee? And, by the way Joe, are you saying that all of us county employees should not have gotten the same big raises that Wheeler and his department heads did all those years?

Well the County Budget is out and EMS ( along with everyone else who works for Dare County) got the shaft. No COLA five years running, no merit money...no nothing. Thank you to our 200k County Manager, he's doing just fine thank you, probably even got a raise. The rest of us, crumbs.
