Has anybody else seen this large gray plane that has been criss crossing KDH area since Friday? It looks like the orange coast guard plane and does follow the shore line at times BUT I have also seen it banking turns over populated areas at very low altitude!

Anybody know anything about this...

I thought I heard a plane after dark a couple nights ago -- over Colington. It was scary hearing a plane that low.

Might be connected to the search for the missing swimmer in Corolla.

I saw it. I think it's a C-130. There is a published MTR (Military Training Route) that goes right over this area.

I live near the bombing range and there has been an olive drab c-130 practicing, as well as two "little boys" using mini guns etc. Probly Black water, they use both of these types of aircraft.

I saw it last night 9/13 when we were at the beach at the inlet. It went south, then north. It reminded me of the plane that took photos several years ago.

I freaking cannot believe that you guys have seen the plane too. It flew over my house yesterday and I live in Spring, Texas. This is right outside of Houston on the north side of town. It came in and it was LOUD AS HELL and flying low very low just above the trees it seemed and then it was gone. Happened in the middle of the afternoon. I knew something was not right about this.

I love this thread. I have been very bothered by all the activity in the air for the past 2 years. A lot of increased activity. I basically grew up in the DC area; Ocean City, now they had annoying aircraft flying all over the place all the time. We travelled the long route to the OBX to GET AWAY FROM IT>. To get away from air traffic, and for the unobstructed skyline view (free of high rises). My how things have changed and not for the better. Noise pollution is ...pollution. Then, when I complained to the police about the very noisy, low-flying helicopters, I was tiold, hey, don't you support the military? Heck yeh I do....but the way it is UUALLY done is the military announces ahead of time if they are doing drills. The cop said "not today that I know of". In the local paper the next day, they announced (after-the-fact) that there were indeed drills. Great Homeland Security, i blogged. people said, what is the worry? Well, now...about 2 weeks ago, in NY, a man, capsized from his jet ski, was able to go ashore, scale a fence, and go around a multi-million dollar defense system of the JFK Airport, and walked out onto the tarmac. No search. No checkpoint.(8/10/12). Can you say security breach? We, the public, have a right to know what aircraft will be over us and when and why...and the police should always take us seriously. I know it is too late to bring back the OBX of yesterday...what a shame. But national security is at stake here.

You moved here to get away from air traffic???? You moved to the wrong place. This is where the WB flew the 1st plane and because of that a lot of military are going to get their flight time by flying over here. And they're not going to tell YOU before they do so.

NIMBYs always try to make this place something they thought it was *in their minds* before they moved here. Now realize it's not *that* and try to change it.

For one, why are you complaining to the police about the military? What jurisdiction do you think local law enforcement has over when, where and what the military is doing? Call the military and complain about the aircraft. Secondly, it is not our business when, where and what the military is flying. I for one enjoy seeing the diffent types of aircraft flying by. Don't like it here, then move away. I'm sure some other annoying northerner will be happy to take your place.

it most certainly is our business when, where and what the military is flying. because we're american citizens and our tax dollars pay for it.

Ever thought our military might not want our enemies know whats going on. If they tell us, then our enemies know also. I don't feel "entitled" to know what the military does. I don't even care when they waterboard terrorist and don't feel like its my right to know.
