For years I used to love going to Foodland Market City early in the morning to buy a bowl of soup from its deli department and a newspaper. I did all of my other grocery shopping there too whenever my wife and daughter were out of town on a soccer tournament trip and I was "bach'ing it." But then, inexplicably, Foodland Market City started raising its soup prices. In less than a year the price was jacked up several times, going from around $1.99/bowl to something like an eye-popping $6 or $7 a bowl or maybe even more. Each price increase, whatever its exact amount was, was more outrageous than the one before. I got so fed up (no pun intended) that I took all of my business elsewhere. I haven't set foot in the store in ages.

looking forward to the remodeled Foodland. I could never understand why they waited until Safeway on Kapahulu was up and running to start the remodel. I'll be there at the Poke section, for the best Poke in town.

We used to see Foodland out there in Kaimuki when we take visitors around the island. That was in the late 50's. I have always gone to Foodland to shop for food. And yes, years real go by fast that I was not aware of the remodeling of this Foodland. I hope I can go and visit to see the modern one. May be Jen will take me there some day.

I saw Lauren Bacall in Fooldand one time. She was stunning!

The best Fooldand is the one on King street in Kalihi. Go check 'em out. Go now. Go.

I love Foodland and the Market City Foodland...the specials they had today for their customer appreciation and "re-opening" celebration were the BEST! They also gave extra Maikai certificates to their customers during their renovations at Market City I guess to make up for the disruption in the store, which I turned in for two free pints of Haagen Dazs ice cream. Thank you, Foodland!

Yeah, and you help build Sully's multimillion dollar mansion above Pupukea!
