So, the Republican party bashed this lawyer for defending a person accused of a crime. Apparently the Republicans (and some of the other people posting comments) believe that if you are accused of a crime, you should not have the right to have a lawyer assist with your defense.

It's stories like these where you see people's narrow-mindedness ooze up to the surface. What if this guy was your brother or cousin or son? At least he's genuine and not a fake bull-sh!t-t$ng politico. Yeah, I might call him on the sex-offender thing, but his sexual orientation and the fact that he has HIV doesn't make him less of a person. He's a better person than you haters out there. C'mon Hawaii, I thought we were better than this.

You forgot to add, "It's About Time we had a "little guy" honest for everybody politician. A rarity these days..... Maybe he's so shocking to some because he isn't aligned with special interests with fat wallets like the rest of the State Legislature!

I agree. When you elect somebody they are supposed to represent you and your fellow district members. It is nice to see legislators in our one party system that are NOT Calvin Say's or Coleen Hanabusa's puppets.
I might as well just leave the voting block blank then elect somebody else's puppet. The whole party line thing is only usefull when Dems and Republicans have equal or near equal power. But in Hawaii the system has become corrupted by a very few "leader" democrats with an army of zombie lawmakers blindly walking behind them.
Your on to something here - the real problem with our "Doolittle hand out to lobbyists" politicians is the two party system itself. It has crippled our Congress in Washington no matter which party's candidate is in the White House. We need to wake up.

Sounds like part of a comedy routine.
So what? Bodda U?

Oh. He's a Hawaii Legislator. Now it makes sense.

Whatsamatter U? Did the presses stop printing in Illinois? Get a hobby my man. Hey while we're state bashing here, how about all that "organized crime" in Chicago's history as well!

I think if it wasn't against the law for felons to run for office, I think you would see a conglomeration of undesirables in office. Voters are a strange animal. The 70% who did not vote in the previous election are upset with the qualifications of the slates so decide to stay home on election day.
The real smart people are the ones that take advantage of election day to have a picnic, BBQ or go to the beach rather than waste their time voting. For who, the incumbant status quo that don't care about them anyway? Expect voter turnout to keep declining in the future. Most of us are taxed automaticly by law, so we accept that they got our money, we just won't allow them to wrap us up in their mindless games too.

Nah - this shows how many haoles moved to Maui recently. He represents exactly what Kihei has become. White, gay, pot smoking, sexual preditor, sun my balls hippies.

These same haoles are the ones that complain about the smoke from the cane burning that HC&S has been doing for 100+ years. That is why the locals don't live there!

I dont think so much of a Gay man who doesnt think that perverted men shouldnt be arrested for trying to hook up with a 14 year old of any age. His morals are bankrupt and his Gay disease will not kill him fast enough for me. Marriage is between a man and a woman. Gay sex belongs in a closet and child predators belong in jail!

When he got sick, it didnt have anything to do with the Pussy cat. It is from playing with his partners COCKATOO. He is no hero, wake up Hawaii, men like this do not belong in the legislature deciding what laws are best for you. His voting block is rich, Gay hippies that think sex with a 14 year old is "ok". Votes him out before his friend Gavin Newsome comes over to visit.

Same sex marriage is a sin. The Creator God, the source of all life, made that clear when he pulled out a rib from Adam and molded that rib to be a woman and he called the woman Eve. There for I know this much, Same sex marriage is a no no.

I'm so glad the Star Bulletin did a story on this guy. Who would have known we have such outspoken legislators who aren't afraid to say what they think whether its politically correct or not?
We need more independent souls in office like this who aren't going to sugar coat everything and hide who they are just to get elected.
I am glad they ran the article too. What a wealth of information we have learned about this upstanding friend of the molestors and Gays
