"Every exposed circuit not a bomb maketh"
Now the terrorists know they need to do a neat job, probably pack the bomb in a pretty pink package and nobody will suspect them.
I bet it's time to ban electronic courses in colleges as they can be used for the wrong purposes by the wrong people. Let the Chinese and Indians dabble in Electronics. We are safer without those here.

I am thunder struck at the angry comments. Hats off to the cool heads who did not kill a silly young girl.

I am amazed at the some of the moronic statements that are being made by those defending this, girl. Like the EOD guy said before bombs can be made to look like anything. Are you people going to tell me that simply because it had led lights on it then it couldn't be a bomb? That's the dumbest thing I have ever heard. She had playdough in her hand and there were wires that were coming out of the board, not to mention the fact that the guy who spotted her first was someone working at the info desk, not the TSA or the police. Wearing something in an airport that looks like that is reckless and carrying playdough in your hand while you do it is downright ludacris. I love how people can sit here and have all the time in the world to second guess police, when they themselves have but seconds to react to the same situation. It's common sense that you shouldn't wear something that in an airport.

Sheldon understands we now live in a fascist police state and has adjusted his behavior accordingly. However some young people still believe they are free. Such naivete can get one killed. Tazer anyone?

Since when does free mean that you can wear a device that looks like a bomb on your chest while carrying playdough in your hands around an airport? Exactly what is it you think they should have done? What exactly was the piece of "art" supposed to be? I mean if that's the best she can come up with after 2 years at MIT then she needs to get a refund. With freedom comes responsibility and what she did was far from responsible.

Has anyone stopped to think what could have happened if someone of the other passengers saw what she was wearing. Logan airport has had more than it's share of trouble and I'm sure the people around there are fully aware of that. To many people that looks like a bomb. Just because she claims she said it was a piece of art, so what. The police have an obligation to investigate. But if you want to test that out yourself I suggest you go into bank with a REAL gun that you painted orange, because everyone knows that guns aren't orange or better yet put some led's on it, since we all know guns don't have those either. Then when confronted by police tell them it's just art and see how that works out for you. I'd tell you to let me know, but I'm sure you'd either be in jail or dead.

MOR wrote: How could the police be so completely MORONIC - once again the Boston police think than anything with a battery attached must be a bomb. Wasn't MA the founding location of American democracy? Enough of this BS. Give me liberty or give me death! RESIST THE POLICE STATE. Are you insane? If she showed up at some check point in Iraq like that... she would've been making her statement with about 100 rounds inside of her. She's lucky she pulled this on your crazy side of the country.

I think that this is an unfortunate reflection of how wacko our police state has become. The woman was clearly not a threat and the fact that she had a shirt that had a circuit board with lights does and should never be an opportunity to kill her. My mother wears a shirt with a blinking light with Rudolph on it. Is she the next target ? The Government needs to focus on real and not percieved security threats ! This is nonsensical and people should see it what they are doing. Slowly taking away personal freedoms and then saying we are being protected.

Ted wrote: Have you seen the pictures of the "device"? It looks NOTHING like a bomb. Nothing. I went to RIT, which is full of computer/engineering geeks, and they'd wear stuff like that (on backpacks!) all the time. Cops just don't have a clue. Her actions were completely innocent - this isn't a fake bomb. Absolutely it does not look like a bomb ! It does look like art. Next time they are going to shoot some deaf student when they don't respond because their LED Sweatshirt looks like a bomb. Live Free or Die

What a waste of a good college education, MIT should make her withdraw from the college, She makes the college look bad! Why would a perfectly sane woman show up at a place that is always on edge and wear a fake bomb on her chest? I swear , If I were a cop on duty at the time I would have shot her in the head without the slightest hesitation! My justification would have been " I was protecting the lives of the public" This ass wipe don't know how close to having her brains splattered all over the airport! Remember 9/11!

Blinkenlights and a battery and wires hanging out makes a bomb these days?
A *real* terrorist would bring in a couple of large suitcase bombs rigged to go off when he puts them down, and level an entire terminal with them. But the Massachustes State Police don't look like they're interested in defending against real threats.
And shooting the terrorist? They all use they type of switch that set the bomb off when they let go, and have been for a decade. These people are supposed to be protecting us? These people are harping on common sense?
Gimme a break?

to all the bedwetters here who advocate killing a 19 yo woman for wearing jewelry with flashing lights, all I can say is that I sincerely hope that something like that happen to your mom or sister or wife.
I am so disgusted.

A real bomber would never display a device. That should have been a clue. This over reacting is going to get some one killed. "Police shot man using cell phone" "Police kill 5-year old over toy" "Swat team open fire on man waring funny shoes". I just made all of these headlines up but at this rate it is only a mater of time before they become real. The terrorist do not have to ever do any else to us again because now we are starting to do it to our selfs.
