If we had nuked Okinawa back in the good old nukie days, Okinawa would not be a problem today. Actually, if we had nuked the Sandwich Isles, the japanees would have had nothing to attack and WW II wouldn't have occured, and we've have saved millions in welfare costs..

No, I didn't vote for him, nor for those other windward democratic puppets, Tommy Waters and Chris Lee.

In regards to the B&B hotel bill.....follow the money! The illegal B&B owners are trying to buy a bill that basically turns our zoning laws upside down. Anderson and a few other Council members took the money! It will come back and haunt them for a very long time!

Mr. Jimhiro is quick to accuse me as a "flame thrower" as not knowing the facts. Let me enlighten you to the FACT that my relatives and ancestors...along with 1/3 or the Okinawan population died and suffered in the war that they had no say in. The Okinawans were considered less than the lowest form of animals, and were teated as such. The Battle of Okinawa happened to keep US forces off of the main Japanese islands Okinawan school girls were forced to be nurses for the imperial army, and men were made front line against US attackers. They were also considered spies because of their lack of good Japanese language. With the bases, we suffer continuous rapes, air crashes in civilian communities which is the worst in the world in a concentrated area, and day and night fly by training which is AGAINST local and US laws. In off base accidents and rapes, the victims suffer as the US criminals are taken in by the military and sent back home, never to face the trials of the local communities. US military take control of Okinawan properties after a crash or accident and remove any sort of evidence, as in the recent case of the helicopter crash at Okinawa University. These are the FACTS sir, and if you are proud of these FACTS upon innocent lives, remember that the land the bases are on is Okinawan....NOT the United States of America. You are the one who should look at the facts. There are more that You can find everyday in the local Okinawan newspapers. How arrogant you seem. If someone raped your daughter, wife or mother in your house, lets see if you would feel as you do. Its a matter of human rights at stake here. If you can't understand that, than I pray that one day you will be able to find understanding in your heart. It is my Okinawa you are so arrogant to colonize with your comments.

You described basically every situation in Hawaii. Business as usual in the nei. Just look at all the houses and busunesses setting on "AG" land. Concrete is King.

And its time we say "NO". Hotels belong in resort areas, not residential neighborhoods. Tell Your Council member to vote "NO" on Bill 7.

There should have been a moratorium on building enacted forty years ago, but greed ruled then and is still ruling today. Developers live on hundred acre estates on the mainland while telling us we need to live 2' from our neighbors, and we keep voting for the people that sold our standard of living.

Everyone that has knowledge about WWII knows about the history of Okinawa. Its really very sad. The real reason behind this island wanting the US military out of their country is the assaults and rape of women there. Some of these rapes were young innocent children. I'm not talkng about one or two, but many every year. They have been fighting this problem for decades and want their lives lived without these constant problems. This plan to relocate these forces to Guam will also bring many social problems, but it is a USA territory. Hawaii is hoping that some of these construction jobs will put some of our people back to work. Wev will see.

Eric Wada is absolutely correct in expressing concerns about the situation in Okinawa. The U.S. needs to stop treating Okinawa as a colony. The Okinawans do not want the military there, and we should respect their wishes. Where are the voices from the UN Committee on Decolonization?
The rapes we read about in the news media is just the tip of the iceberg. Prior to the return of the islands to Japan, all rape reports were censored by the U.S. We need to come clean and make public all the cases. It will shock the nation. Where are the voices from the Human Rights groups?
The construction of the U.S. airbase at Henoko Bay threatens the endangered Okinawan dugong and violates all environmental and conservation rules. Where are the voices from the Conservationists and Environmentalists?

USA should leave Jaan if they don't want us...and Europe too. We cannot afford to have 900 bases around the world. Our country is broke.
