They already have the EIS for Kahului Harbor in the works: that's the one that's being labelled "Kahului Commercial Harbor Master Plan for the Year 2030". It will be due next year. They do have to do an EIS for that parking at the airport though, because they really have very little space to expand, with Kanaha Pond being a bird sanctuary and Baby Beach being just a grenade's throw away from the flight path as it is. Maybe they'll expand toward Costco rather than towards the beach.

Are you kidding me? There are literally 100s of acres of garbage land around the airport.

It would be better to build UP (like as in a parking garage) than it would be to build out. Kahului Airport needs more parking, but it could be accomplished quite well with a parking garage.

What garbage land are you talking about? You mean up by Sprecklesville? All around Stable Camp is being developed now into housing.

build it and they will come to buy it, then rent it to anybody who'll end up paying the rent for the owner. if the can't rent it they'll try to sell above market value. can't sell it, that's not a problem foreclosure that sucker. who cares the buyers don't live here. they come, buy it, try to rent it. make a profit, don't deal with traffic created by these projects. they live some other place where they don't want to build because it will congest ttheir areas. seen it happen many of times. water ? now thats okay because they will tell the people already cutting back to cut back some more so they can create the same on going problem over and over. imagine if you use 25,000 gals per billing and they tell you to cut back 10%, not that easy. now these new properties use lots more lets say 75,000 gals. per billing, cut back 10% not that hard. since most of that will be for landscaping. now would let your new property go brown. and some newer subdivisions require you to keep your yard up to standards or they will fine you in $$. hey thats okay, because the cost of living here is great. sun is free, milk is almost $2.50 a gallon on sale. gas anywhere from $3.65 to almost $5.00 a gal. thats not all, it gets better, sometimes to move a distance of 10 miles it can take as short as 40 minutes on a good day oh by the way traffic is getting better because more people, families visit and stay and just add to our rural infrastructure. but it's getting better they are now playing with SIMS city, give them time. it can get better.

We can never correctly understand the problem of housing, water, waste, etc. as long as we use terms like "housing shortage" instead of "population overage." There is no housing/water shortage. There are just as many houses this year as there were last year--indeed, more. There is just as much water. There is just as much (not much!) room to store our waste. The continuing increase in population and in living standards is the cause. Face it!! This is a limited environment. As long as there is ANY increase, it will lead to worse and worse problems. Forget the nonsense of "sustainable growth." It's an oxymoron.

1000 new homes when the rest of the USA banks are facing sub-prime crisis! Mortgage holders discover easy-money no-down ARMs can be very expensive. Many of the foreclosures are 'flippers' and investors!

Unless Maui is turned into a commuting city based on an H-4 concept ... Santa uses surfwax on his sled!?!
