Most Americans have come to understand we now live in a fascist police state and have adjusted their behavior accordingly.

However some young people still believe they are free.

Such naivete can get one killed.

Tazer anyone?

There are many places better then America. Don't even lie to yourself sunny. The Health care system is ranked #38 in the World and is the most expensive. The legal system is corrupt as all hell. Everyone I know agrees to that. The Govt is in shambles and owes 10 trillion dollars and continues to spend like a drunk sailor. The Govt is hated by people who always believed in it. People who were in all the Wars say this is not right. And who are you to tell anyone "BYE" I have houses in two countries where I love to spend as much time as possible. I don't get riped-off in taxes in these countries. I feel like I have more freedom there as well. In about 480 days when the Redneck leaves the Whitehouse I will see if I want to leave here permanently.
ya haven't left yet? what's the hold up there gomer or is it goober? oh well, no matter i hope you're packed and i hope you're going to one of those wonderful middle eastern countries.

America is obviously afraid of it's own shadow now. The land of the free has become the land of the cowardly. No small wonder the Canadian dollar has overcome the US dollar in real value terms.

wow! is there anyone else in the states who would not think twice about wearing a fake bomb to an airport and opt to not do it? she's a student at MIT for crying out loud!
wearing a fake bomb to career day, even with the intention of "standing out" (which, i imagine, she did!) is questionable in itself. wearing it the next day, to an airport, is just plain stupid.

"Student with fake bomb"
This is a scare headline produced by the "Dumb You Down" news media!
The problem this girl has, is she's too intelligent for the time she's living in.
The device she was wearing was 'electronic art' that she had created and in no way did it resemble a terrorist bomb.
Terrorists conceal there bulging explosive packets and never put flashing lights on them for everyone see. Only paranoid "chicken little's" would react to this the way they have and the news media continues to promote the false sense of fear and real terrorist fears that the right wing nuts use to control the masses are by default giving the terrorists a victory.
Do not give in to these scare tactics, otherwise they win and do not give up our Civil Rights that our forefathers sacrificed so much for us to have them, if we do, then Osama Bin Ladin will win!!!!!!

Superferry? Will the Superferry itself be inspected for radioactivity after carrying military shipments? Where will any required clean-ups be done? Dockside? It seems prudent to expect the possibility of the spread of uranium 238 contamination of Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the Big Island by battlefield equipment transported on the Superferry for the Stryker Brigade. In addition, we need to know if a Superferry, operated by the Navy, under its protocol for Westpac Express (and not civilian operating procedures), will be subject to US and international marine law regarding avoiding ocean mammals. From what we now know of the Navy's RIMPAC war games that took place off Kauai in 2004 and 2006, it is unlikely that Navy plans on complying with such regulations. In fact the Navy is now seeking to use the more dangerous Low Frequency Active Sonar in Hawaiian waters. This is particularly deadly to ocean mammals. Will the Superferry be equipped with LFA sonar for Navy use? The cynical view is that the Superferry can become part of the Navy's Westpac Express fleet on the cheap... at least cheap to the Pentagon. The people of Hawaii will be footing the bill for the harbor improvements. The investors (friends of Lehman Inc.) have federal and state guarantees on their money. Even if the civilian operation goes belly-up, the Navy can still lease the ships for a song and not have to deal with Matson or Young Brothers anymore. We need a Superferry EIS that includes Navy Westpac Express operations in order to assure the people of Hawaii that the Superferry will not be a vector contaminating our islands with radioactive uranium and destroying the lives of sea mammals with lax Navy operation protocols. And if they had ignored the blinking lights, wires and circuit board and it was a bomb do you want to be on that plane? You would also probably be one of the first ones blaming that the police didnít do enough to protect us. This isn't about being a Nazi like country it's about American's taking personal responsibility for their own stupidity and using common sense. If you don't like it you are FREE to move out of American and find a place that isnít so Nazi like.

Tell you what you go through a recent terrorist attack that killed family and friends and tell me you think the extra precautions are not necessary and then you have a right to speak about America. And what does the Canadian dollar have to do with this story? Itís easy to be away from the current climate of the US and judge. Stay in Japan and stay out of our business.
