The principal doesn't know what the school really needs. There's a huge shortage of chairs in the classrooms, and she could spend the money on renovations, which will take much longer to solve than simply getting more chairs (and tables). She even spent money on benches that, in the end, ended up being ripped out from the sidewalks and/or graffitied on. Though it would be much simpler to blame the students for being unappreciative and destructive, had the environment of the school been better than it is now, then perhaps the behavior of the students would have improved over the years.
In short, the principal and the DOE need to make better choices for schools like Campbell.
