I encourage the media; TV and newspapers to pay more coverage and continuing coverage on educational and scientific endeavors by our students. The newspapers and medias tend to place undue and disproportionate coverage on sports and sports personalities, but very (proportionally) little coverage of the scientific endeavors of students. Maybe that is why Hawaii consistently ranks mediocre or below average on their students' standardized testings. Perhaps, if the media were to consistently place more coverage and support of our educational endeavors rather than sports endeavors, the scores and aspirations of our students toward things more scientific and academic would improve. If the medias are not part of the solution, they are indeed part of the problem. Needless to say, I personally do not have much faith in the media here in Hawaii, as they are totally $$$$$$ driven; to sell more and make more money rather than be the advocate of academic and social issues. Please think about this, medias?
