I moved away 8 1/2 years ago and have been longing to return ever since. In reading some of these topics, I'm shocked!!!!

What has happened? Is it a bad place to live now?

The illegal aliens have taken over.

Its not bad if you live in a decent part of town.

I grew up in Fort Smith and now reside in south Sebastian county. There is no way I would want to raise my family in Fort Smith.

I do not think Fort Smith is an AWFUL place to live, I just moved back from Bartlesville, OK and that place sucked! LOL Had kids tag your car and numerous other childish behavior that I never experienced in my years in Fort Smith. I do agree that it'd be recommended to live in the decent area which is Southside mainly.

Fort Smith has got worse. It is a dirty OLD industrial town. YEECH just drive down Midland or Towson. No wonder Sparks Hospital is going down the tubes. They had poor management, and ran off all their good docs.( I was an RN there). There are no new places to eat here, other than Cheddars, and no new stores, besides Target, whoopee. WHO? is going to stay in all these hotels they keep building? What is the incentive to visit Ft.Smith? I live here, and can't think of anything to do! Only nice area to live is on the Southside. Dont move here unless you are OLD AND WANT TO SIT HOME AND GO TO CHURCH. IF you do move here, keep going South to Greenwood, way nicer place to live.

I have done a lot of research on Fort Smith and it's a great place to live and work. Medical care is good, people are friendly, Schools are great and many beautiful old historical buildings. The night life on Garrison is growing by leaps and bounds. There are so many shops and restaurants in the area, great parks, concerts and sports. The U of A is top notch. The city officials are doing a wonderful job. Lets here a specific complaint, because I can't think of too many.
