McDonagh's - Decent burger, great beer selection.

Drew's - Outrageously good eats.

Trinity - Expensive, but just OK.

Keyport Fishery - Combo for me.

Mike's - My favorite subs.

Tropical-Garivaldi's-Domino's - Why bother.

Chicken Coope - Taters only.

Is the Ye Cottage Inn still there? That was always a once a year specialty for us growing up.

Don't fool yourself Stinger, that place just isn't very good. Here's a link to a local review, it's not too far off from my visit.

thank you stinger, we try very hard. the clurfeld review was not representative of who we are. as i have seen in the past, she consistantly bashes and those places are usually still going strong long after. there were many LIES in that article. yes, lies. nona, i look foward to your visit. as far as closing, no plans anytime soon ?????

I have to tend to agree with the write up that Trinity was given. We tried the place out soon after opening, and were very disapointed. Initially the trial started out badly when no-one would answer the phone to tell us that we didnt need reservations. The poor chef kept on running back to the phone saying no-one is here. Then we walked in, what a great set up, its a shame the food didnt live up to the standard of the decor. The food was bland to say the least, the service very amatuerish, the bill for what was the only high point (and thats not a good thing). Now this was before the "new menu" but we will not be trying it out, and that is a shamke we live no more than1 mile away

Hey if the Merla's took some of the money they stole or laundered into the business, maybe it would run better

i am sorry to hear you won't give us another try brit..... i do believe if you were to come back, you'd think it was an entirely new restaurant. no, i am not the chef that opened, but have now been there for a while. as a growing business, we try to improve everyday in all aspects. i truly think that we are on the right track with all aspects. more proffessional service that is better trained. a COMPLETELY different menu that fits the atmosphere and revamped wine list that is better suited to our cuisine. i urge you to come give us a second chance. ask for me if you wish, i am there everyday all the time.

as far as dave's comment, typical.... do more research before you lump everyone together and get all the facts. my employer is an upstanding citizen and trying to help this community grow. i do not know if you are a keyport resident but, surely you would like to see more people come into town and help it's economy ? every comment like that only holds back the town in general, not to mention all the employees who HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY OF THIS. we go about our business and work very hard for our money. are we to blame as well ?

you sir, are not helping anyone.

typical...... Of what? I am obviously a Keyport resident, are you? Maybe if you were you wouldn't throw comments about 'upstanding citizens' around so quickly. Sure the employees 'HAVE NOTHING TO DO....Blah Blah Blah....' fact is someone does have something to do with it, and you very well might be working for that person without realizing it. So run along now and try not to tell the locals what to think.

actually, the person i work for is NOT in trouble with the law. no, i am not a keyport resident. however, i do work here, spend more time in keyport than at home, spend money in keyport and try to promote the fact that there is fine dining in keyport.

by the way, "citizen" not "citizens". i only speak of one.

I just noticed someone else is using my name to submit comments so lets try it again. Both John and Joe Merla have pled guilty to the charges brought against them.

They are criminals. The fact that they have friends has never been the issue. They stole from the very town they claimed to support

I have nothing against them personally. I'm sure their good friends. But please don't tell me or anyone else in Keyport they work for the community. The money they give to charity and other needy people came about because they stole from us and they profit everyday from it.

As for the restaurant. Good luck with it, but you will not see me or my family eating there

Dave, i believe you are missing my point. i have never refered to either of them. neither have anything to do with the day to day operations of trinity restaurant. i, nor any other person working at trinity work for either of them. i think it is a shame that people will not ry this restaurant because of association. in fact, its ridiculous. we have a beautiful place where people can come and enjoy a night out, IN KEYPORT..... whether they come from keyport or a surrounding town(more tax dollars coming in to keyport), its good for the community you have to admit. maybe they will come and spend money elsewhere in keyport, is that so bad?

i am not here to defend them, i am here to defend the restaurant and my employees who DO NOT DESERVE THIS treatment.

i guess a few bad apples spoil the bunch huh? not for me, i just throw out the bad ones and enjoy one of many garden state apples that are delicious.

Sorry "trinitychef" it is unfortunate that by association the business gets a bad rap. Truthfully though thats how it is. People like myself who have paid close attention to the disgrace that Keyport has had to endure see the brothers walking around with big smiles on their faces, building homes, businesses without a care in the world. Not once did anyone apologize to the people of Keyport they held with so much affection. To me they would have none of the properties mentioned and I still hope the IRS uses a microscope to check into how ALL OF THESE PROPERTIES WERE OBTAINED. I'm angry that the town I live in was disgraced and I hold them accountable. If a restaurant that they own is in the way of that anger. I'm sorry, but they deserve it.

Trinity chef, as Dave77 stated : "If a restaurant that they own is in the way of that anger. I'm sorry," - This is the feeling of many of the townspeople. Maybe you should focus your attentions on potential customers not from the immediate vicinity. I would like to ask you on question though: Who is the owner of the former church? Not the restaurant, but the actual building, I think the answer might be a suprise to you.
