You are printing bald faced lies. Portillo was not in attendance at any meeting for the Keywester employees and never spoke to one of us. 70 people will confirm that statement. That is one of the many reasons we are upset. First and foremost we are upset because Portillo did not have the decency to call a single one of us. He let us show up for work to find out. This meeting he spoke of and did not attend was only known about if you got a phone call from another employee. At the meeting we were told that we were closed, there would be no severance and your insurance would be cut off 3 days later. As quoted out of Portilllos mouth from his article in the Daily Herald "Of course, we're not going to be able to take most of them," Portillo said. "But we will be able to take some of them." We were told that there were very few positions available. In your article he acts as if there were tons of openings. He also states that he does not know what he is doing with the building but in our termination letter he stated that it will be knocked down. The man is a bald faced lier trying to cover his tracks. If you see fit to keep printing his lies I suggest that you print the other side too. We only asked for a little respect from the man. We understand that the place needed to close. But a phone call, his presence, insurance longer than 3 days- at least till the end of the month which is typical and a week or twos severance would have stopped the bad publicity he is now getting and he would not be trying to back pedal himself out of it right now. Not more than anyone else would expect from their employer. One more thing why is he surprised that we are not applying anyplace else in his company???? Would you after how he treated us???????

I visited Keywester, every so often, and just loved the place. So sorry to hear it closed. SHAME ON THE PORTILLO FAMILY for the shabby treatment of their employees. No more Portillo's "anything" for us! Sorry people!!!
