omg i just had the worst experience in this store. me and a friend went in ther just to look at the puppies. btw i have never seen a 2k dog. anyways i was telling my friend that i have never payed for a dog that i always adopted them from the pound. and this woman looked at me and said
"then why are you in here?" direct quote. i wasent even talking to her it was a private conversation. well it didnt stop there she chased us out of the store saying that her store was a boutique and not a walmart... me personally i love walmart. then she told us we need to go back to hicktown. well if that wasnt wierd lol. why do ppl here think they can talk to people any way that they want to and get away with it. dont anyone here have any respect anymore. just a question.. has anyone else had an incident like this

And now the other side of the story: These two women came in and bad mouthed the puppies, the prices, and selling puppies while I was literally sitting 2 feet away (please come into our store and see how close I sit to the puppies). I never chased them out of the store but I did ask them why they were in the store if they were going to talk so negatively--especially that I was sitting right next to them behind the counter. My remark regarding a boutique was that the store is small, and not like walking around in a Walmart criticizing the merchandise when no one else can hear you. They broke out into so much profanity and yelling outside that the entire group of tourist standing outside on the sidewalk called them names. Come to our store and judge for yourself.

excuse me all i said was that i have never paid for a dog. and i always got mine at the pound or they were strays that showed up at my door. and i am from hickville but that is besides the point i never said anything rude. my friend tried explaining why they cost so much and what stuff they had or whatever. then we left walked down the street and turned around to head back to the car... and you came out of the store and started yelling at her and she yelled back. that is between yall. but when a customer askes a question isnt it your job to explain why and what treatment the dog has had. instead of being rude??

That store is very sad. Puppies die every year to keep stores like that running. The owner is blind to this fact. My idea is stay away.

My family fell in love with a beautiful English bulldog last father's day! We were treated wonderfully in the store, and the puppy had been well cared for. Our vet confirmed that he was very healthy.

Thank you, Teresa for our amazing addition to our family.

Congratulations English Bulldog owner for being the minority in receiving a healthy dog from this store! Most of the puppies that come from this store are so sickly being from puppy mills, that a good majority die in the first week of having them (I know from experience - and NO Teresa it wasn't hypoglycemia!!!!). I don't know how this store is still open with the lunatics that own and operate it. If there is ANY justice in this world, they will not remain open with such poor practices.

I was surprised by the lack of customer service this year. The lady working the store was borderline rude, which is rare in Key West. I don't know how sales are going on in the store, but my wive usually buys a couple outfits (for our pets) in the store. Not this year (late July). I hope the girl working the counter was not the owner. Hopefully the owner(s) get a better front person to work the counter.

You are absoltely correct. This woman buys her puppies from all over. She bought 2 healthy puppies from me.(I do not live in or near Florida.) She sent me email after a week's time stating that my puppies were sick and that she was treating them. She has never taken my poor babies to a veterinarian to see why they may be sick, so I do not know that they are receiving proper care, if in fact they are sick. Maybe she is killing my babies by not treating them properly !!!!!! Maybe they got sick in her store. It seems that she has had many sick babies there.
Do not support this store it needs to be shut down!!!!!

The owner or GM (whatever she is) of this store is a psycho. I want to file a complaint with PETA. She is so unprofessional.
While in Key West this past weekend, my sister and I both went into the store at separate times (I walked in about 5 minutes after her). While my sister was asking her very nicely where the dogs came from, she got all defensive and starting yelling at her in front of customers. I'm sorry, but it you're going to buy a puppy, wouldn't you like to know where it came from? She got defensive and told my sister to leave the store. At the same time, I asked very nicely if the dogs got adopted or purchased regularly or just sat there? She came around from the counter as I was looking at something for my dog back home and told me leave the store. She said that her dogs get sold every week (at $1200 a pop to vacationers...I highly doubt it) and how dare I question her. She literally chased us both out of the store while yelling at us (she didn't even know we were together). Someone obviously feels guilty. Is that how you treat your customers? I have no doubt in my mind that these puppies are from puppy mills. It breaks my heart to see them in the window.
When sitting by the pool at Dante's the following day, we were discussing what had happened. A few people who are locals overheard our conversation and agreed with us. They said that the owners are mother and son and very unprofessional. They also agreed that the puppies are from puppy mills. Apparently alot of the locals complain about her as well.
I must add that several customers left the store when this happened. I think they need to be shut down and the woman there (I believe her name is Theresa) needs to learn manners.

We have documentation on how the overwhelming majority of customers are happy with the health and care of their Dogs on Duval puppy. Ask to see our notebooks of happy customers. We can back up this fact because of the noted customer testimonials, names, addresses, and all from the customers' emails, including their puppy's picture.

We are able to provide documented NOTEBOOKS of happy customer testimonials regarding the healthy puppy they received from our store. As I was typing this, another customer entered the store from out of town, who purchased a King Charles from us a year ago, bragging that it is the best dog she has ever had. There are not just large amounts of positive testimonials that we can share, but visitors coming back on a regular basis to show us how well their babies are doing.

We love our dog from Key West.... She is now 4 hrs old and we were treated great when we went to the store and they were very helpful. We went for a wedding and had 2 hrs before leaving, so on whim my husband and I took a walk inside of the store. The moment I picked Luna up I did not put her down. I cried because I didn't know how we would get her home. The women and my husband called the Airport and at first because of the small plane we had to take out of key west they said no carry on would be allowed. I was not leaving without her , so another call was made and my husband got them to say Ok we could take her. They even let me carry her on my lap not in the carrier. She is a great dog and never had any medical problems with her and the store was very helpful when we were there and after I got her home. I had to call them because she was microchipped and I needed additional information to transfer her to my name. I always got a call back and help. We are going back next yr for our 30th and the couples 5 th wedding anniversary and visiting Dogs on Duval for sure.

I come to Key West often, I can not believe the residents of this community allow this shop to stay in business. This person should be shut down and the lady banned from selling animals anywhere.

We just got back from Key West and really surprises us that a store selling puppies would do well there. We met so many dog lovers there and every single person we met that had a dog with them shared the story of rescuing from a shelter/rescue group. These dogs were spayed/neutered as well. Wouldn't it be great of this store served as a foster facility for shelter dogs instead of perpetuating the problem?

You are scum running a scummy business. I defy you to post a list of where you get these puppies so we can independently go visit them. You sold us a sick dog. By the way, you frequently treat these puppies when you get them by nebulizing them for repiratory problems. Are you a Vet? Why don't you provide a notebook of how happy the local vets are with your business? Why do you tell buyers they can't go to certain vets? Key West needs to pass a law to stop this terrible business.

Great post. I know first hand this is a terrible place to buy from. I saw many puppies die from here. Yes do tell what the local vets think of this place. Cheap puppies breed for profit. Stay away. Adopt, ask around, or use the Internet with caution. Shut this place down.
