How many people work there? 75 is a lot! There are federal laws on layoffs and giving notice if you downsize significantly. Just wondering.

Not really sure. But it's probably about 1/5 of the workforce.

If I worked at great dane now, I would be looking for another job right now!I don't care if you have been there 30 years, you better start looking! I have inside information and that plant is going to be closed soon. Operating costs are to high. They will be building the trailers down south, for a much cheaper price. Now that Phil has passed there is no longer a reason to keep this plant running! You don't have to believe this post, but time will tell. You will look back in a few weeks and know that I was right! Please heed my warning, and run while you can!

The doors won't close until the contract is up.

Don't matter how long, you have been there.
If they close the doors. Seniority won't help you a bit.
When they closed the plant I worked at. I was # 7 on the list.
Thought I would be there for life. My misstake!!!!!!!!!!

Great Dane has always had its ups and downs. If the orders are there they have workers if not they are forced to lay off, just a fact of life.Heard layoff might not be too long though.

hey i worked in the shops [not pines]for something like 49 yrs.good times and tough times.lay offs, change of owner ship, wage freeze's.only thing you can do is best job you can.remember if owners can't sell product at a profit they can't stay in business.do your best and you can hold your head up when you go home at end of day.good luck to all of you.

Hopefully, his disappointment will teach him some valuable life lessons, such as: LIFE ISN'T FAIR and DON'T EXPECT HANDOUTS.

ya cat is a good co.but if it weren't for the small shops around a lot of the workers would have starved 20 yrs ago when they were on strike for several yrs.we should give great dane and their employees credit for all their hard work.
