Good luck. I've been trying to deal with Kip Spears on single family dwelling zoning laws. The house next door to me is rented now to college kids its trashed. They park in the yard. Party and its a nice neighborhood near windmont park. He won't do anything.. I have sent pictures and called police.. Seems like alot of LLC"s rentals buying up property for college kids to live in.. this llc has at least 3. all are run down.. The one north of town with the party and underage drinking was a llc from bloomington I believe. These homes make our property values go down.. Why make improvements now if we have this next door. All the neighbors are very upset as we all keep our homes nice. Mr. Spears is useless. I had to contact the Illinois Government to see where to go from here to get the city to do something. I'm awaiting to hear back.. Am upset as the value of our home probably has gone down and I shouldn't have to try to sell and move. Also an issue is there are so many kids coming and going you don't know their arrest records or if they are sex offenders. We have children in the neighborhood... very disappointed in the city. First a stupid train station we didn't need... what a joke... lets hope the next election we all remember this city councel...

Can't agree more on the jungle across the street north of Ghetto Gas. That is by far the most dangerous intersection in all of Kewanee, and it has been for years. What in heaven's name is the City waiting for before it takes action there? Multiple traffic fatalities? Because it's gonna happen, and sooner rather than later.

Other eyesores:

Half-demolished house on southeast corner of East 8th and North Elm. Weeds up to the eyeballs there. Same with the tan house on the north side of East 7th between Elm and Walnut.

Abandoned house on southeast corner of East 7th and North Elm. Hopeless as a fixer-upper; no good even as a crack den for the budget-conscious.

Little yellow shack across from Lyle School on Burr Street. Abandoned for years. Porch and front and back yards always choked with weeds and full of worthless left-behind articles that even the rats wouldn't want to nest in.

The Brick (northeast corner of East 6th and North Elm)... either tear the damn thing down once and for all or have it declared a National Historic Landmark and restore it to all of its former glory ...

This thread is a good idea. Maybe, just maybe, it'll get somebody to put away the doughnuts for awhile and actually do something about these situations, especially that ticking time-bomb across from Ghetto Gas.

There is a house on burr behind St Pauls Church right across from the township office. Over grown and falling apart. No one has lived in for years. The house sits right next to a pre-school playground and a church. I would think the church would have bought it for taxes and demo it themselves.
Kip Spear won't do anything about the run down propertys and neither will the city.

I do believe there is a city ordinance on the books regarding parking in a yard.. It is an older one though.

Things are looking good here so far with the exception of a few neg. posts. But,as always it is what it is. I have also decided to send this to some media sources as well,so hopefully one will cover a story about the situations around our city that way more of the public will be aware..

If you look at city ordinance you can't park in a yark unless it is gravel or blacktop... I do know that i have been warned by KPD that it is city ordinance......
