..I am sure nearly all of you have seen the 1.8 acres or 500 plus trees I have planted in lots that were mostly undeveloped.I have completed this task as the 1st phase of creating a charity that can be utilized world wide..I don't want to get detailed about the first phase, because I am more concerned with phase 2..BHCO--DRY BASIN PROJECT.
I have completed a permit application that will allow me to renovate the flood plain area off of division street as well as many other waterways..I will be removing and selling the dirt form nearly the entire lots, utilizing nearly 100% recycled materials for terracing, retain walls and even the basin floor..the flow of the creek will not be changed but a flood gate may be installed to hold water if articles to my 10 page proposal are allowed.By removing the existing dirt and creating a basin, flooding will stop.I will be working with federal and state as well as local and private entities to get the best results for the reforestation of these areas to allow for nonmigratory and migratory birds to gather and breed and feed(bird droppings will not be an issue, and the mosquitoes will be part of the food chain, thus reducing there numbers ). hopefully all types species will be reintroduced in these areas..I hope to create a tourist area as well as create some construction jobs.If not my friends and I will do it,I will pay for it...We will work nights and weekends if that is what it takes..To ensure success in this venture, several acres of land near this area will be reforested in hybrid walnut and oak trees as part of BHCO retirement tree program as well as many private investment/retirement lots...Now that I have returned to my quad cities job,I will be more pressed for time so I shall be filing grant proposals and tightening up the paperwork on the 501c3 status..I encourage persons to give gift money and if you have a large amount you want to donate, contact me and we will get with the accountant and see if we are ready to accept tax deductible donations( gifts are not tax deductible). These areas require a lot of tree removal and or trimming as well as wildlife assessment and capture. This will hopefully be done in cooperation with state and federal agencies. This is going to be a big project and should create a sanctuary for animals and stop the flooding ,improve tourism and create jobs...Please don't waste my time if you oppose the project,You will have opportunity to voice your opposition in a public arena..So the whole of the public can see and hear you..comments can be written down and read at the end of my public speech..I am not trying to discourage legit complaints,we need those so they can be addressed..what i dont want is JUNK!I will be reporting abuse on this forum so keep it professional,Or your url will be sought after and you will be held accountable..switching user names after detection will increase the charges if needed--wow I cant believe I have to give a disclaimer on a project to better the community!!Now that I have satisfied the legal requirements..I would like to say just a little about me..I am a painter that worked very hard for the money I used to start these programs, and now I am returning to work to get more money to continue..I have spent well over 50,000 dollars and received help from my friends.Pending donations and gifts are less that 900.00.My friends have given so much time it is great..now I need your help as well..I want to stay in town to make money. but jobs here are scarce.I don't have special skills that make me valuable, so hard work is all I got to go on..This stuff is all new to me,and I am learning as I go..We are who we have been waiting for, lets get to work...Help by giving money or time or both..I will be hopefully speaking at the garden club in July. Then I should know more about the next steps that need to be taken..you see I am not trying..I am doing..

Bravo to you!!! I admire all you have accomplished so far in helping make our fair city a more beautiful area. I think the new Phase 2 sounds very exciting, and as a neighbor in the area where you will be working, I am looking forward to looking at something other than weeds, that get chopped down haphazardly by the city/county and makes our whole area look terrible. Thank you for starting this and taking such great care of he areas you are transformin. Our "lot" already looks 100% better. Please post an address where donations may be sent!!!

Is this the Mill Creek area ?? I don't live near the area so maybe I don't know, but I wasn't aware that we have ever had a serious problem with flooding in that area ?? Please enlighten me on this problem with flooding....

this area starts right at Chatauqua Park and flood ing in parts of the area have been terrible. some years much worse than others. Low areas and basements have seen the worse, and storm drains in the area just can't handle all the water that comes down from the park. Keep in mind, there is a large area before it even gets to Mill street.

If flooding were such a problem, wouldn't the City engineer be involved to fix the problem? Just wondering.....

Flood plain or FEMA Flood plain is the location of the properties in the proposal I submitted to the US Army ...The city engineer hasn't done anything because he has no jurisdiction in this area without first completing an application and submitting a report..I HAVE DONE THIS VERY THING.The engineer will play a role in the project on a level in conjunction with the civil engineering company. This will be a slow process to say the least.I will be sitting in on a special committee to ensure every aspect of the project is mapped out as well as acting as general over the project.I met with the Army today and it was very informative..I have a lot of work ahead of me and I tell you this area is going to be fantastic.I will not be doing much but planting soy beans this year, and tree trimming will wait until after sept when the bats are done in this area..Oh my army contact is also a biologist(awesome).HE WAS VERY INTERESTED IN THE ORCHARDS AND TOOK MANY PICTURES.I felt like I was finally noticed for making change, yes it felt that good..I appreciate the good questions and help is always welcome in all forms, however I had to form the orchard as a sole proprietorship in order to be eligible to hold public office,(just in case you like my other 100 ideas to bring Kewanee into a cleaner greener way or life>IM just keeping an open mind!any how the point is donations are not being accepted only gifts.Gifts are not tax deductible and can be made at the accounting office of Mark Compton under the guise of BHCO,I do believe you can place money directly into the BHCO checking account at Peoples national bank( discretely)or if you can donate some time?Ill take it.Oh yeah THANK YOU ALL for being interested.I have purchased a lap top and speech recognition software is on my radar.I waste 2 and a half hours on the road each day, soon I will be able to use this time to create the necessary documents to move forward with the building of all this into a 501c3 as well as the wetlands project..soon I hope to get the school involved with the project. There is so much and time goes by so fast.I need to be more efficient,no tv for 4 months or so and still no time. Thanks again Kewanee for being cool and making this forum a"clean" room.P.S. I wish the city engineer would fix the washed out drainage ditch on my Jackson street lot.I called them months ago and he was going to be out for surgery for 4 to 6 weeks.Maybe I will call again after I see the work in town slowing down...

This is all very interesting. I would be in the market for some black dirt when it's available. I don't completely understand what you're doing or why but I like it and admire your enthusiasm.

I also like what your plans are BUT----
Not to throw water on your project, how ever.
In the years past when flooding did occur. It was mainly due to the culverts that pass under the roads.
They are and shall remain under sized.
I own some property down by the water way and can't do anything with.(I.E. FLOOD PLAIN)
I have seen it flood many times and it was always because of the culverts not being able to let the water flow.
Good luck on your venture.

I will be selling black dirt very soon and as far as not being able to do anything in the flood plain,I have been given permission to do some digging(not entirely following my plans, more of FEMA's ideas but efective none the less)..The culverts are part of the "bottle neck" that causes the water to slow and must remain in order to allow me to remove that excess water into my new basins.I wish I could show you the plans but they are currently being revisited..I can however post the original plan on my blog site and will try to do so if I can find the time..If you are a property owner in this area and are interested in having your site renovated please feel free to contact me and I will make a site visit. anthony BHCO

oops I almost forgot,if you own one of these FENMA flood plains you know how high the taxes are in these areas..I will be planting soybeans this yr (hopefully tomorrow)to try to drive the taxes down and prepare the site for supposed grant monies that require certain criteria..Not guaranteed it will work on the grant side of things but never the less ,I will be trying..I can do that for you or maybe you want to sell or gift your property??The more area I can renovate the better the chance of success. thanks for your interest people and I will try to get the old plan up soon..We have limited internet because of all our gadgets and the wifes Roku time is mandatory.

It s talk like this that sickens me.This person is most likely a litterbug. Its this kind of mentality that will surely ensue after my comment on the humane society.I did try to erase it but i WILL STAND BY MY THOUGHT ON THE SUBJECT!We have an opportunity at this stage in our history to stand up and be counted as good people.I am sorry to say I will no longer be participating in this forum for a while.I will be investigating the Humane society with the time I would have spent here talking about it or trying to explain to Billy how I have no time for such nonsense talk.Under no guidelines is this funny speech Billy.Have you no daughters or respect.Contact me the old fashioned way for information or bog it,The web page is coming and I will not lead the fight against the humane society but I will participate.I will be taking signatures or willing to sign a petition to investigate.Im sorry I got off subject..I will be speaking at the garden club at the end of July, catch me then..Thanks too all who kept it real for so long and thank you billy for giving me the excuse to get out of this forum.

I was only testing your "humorous side"...You FAILED the test by using my comment, as an excuse for leaving this forum. Maybe I "hit a nerve" with my question "who wears the pants in the family" ??? I suppose you have no humorous side to you, I feel sorry for you, a good laugh can do wonders !!

I suggest you stop with this behavior or I will pay you a visit.when you called me stupid and a drunk in your last post I had your address "scooped" I warned you about attacking me using different user names(it drives up the cost of of prosecution in the anti bullying law and there for increases the fine). I shall be receiving your web address soon enough from my source.I hope you realize the mistake you are making by saying such terrible things..Like your posts in other forums which will certainly help in proving my case, you are obviously sick with some sort of mental illness and weird pornographic fetishes.I will be well entertained to see your web address..I must again refer you to my disclaimer in the original post.I can hardly wait to get the results from my source..You cant imagine the laundry list of threats that you are about to take credit for by ignoring the disclaimer.Oh yea I have a friend who would like to meet you,His name is Karl and he feels your using his name entitles him to some sort of legal action.Isnt this fun..

Got it. Jerry Sink and Stephanie share...aka Karl..Well now isnt this interesting..I believe we met at the Humane society and Jerry worked at the tobacco outlet(now in jail if my sources are correct)that's funny they called me a drunk...
I wish I didn't have to waste time holding people accountable for their actions..But I guess they didn't listen. Now I wish to not be involved in such negativity in the future. So if you want to get personal expect me to do the same.I will shine a light on you so everyone can see you..Be professional and everything will be fine. They say one or two bad apples will spoil a bushel. Why not just throw out the bad ones so the rest dont spoil.@ bad apples are now about to be thrown out.
