I've tried to take a cruise around Johnsons several times this month, and most of it is closed! I heard today that the state cut funding to the park, so now they can't afford to mow the areas around the "loop". That is so F'n pathetic. The worst part is, even if local citizens were to volunteer to help take care of the park, the state workers union would probably have a fit about it. And now instead of fighting for several picnic places, you have to fight for 3? Something smells fishy and it isn't the pond.

because of budget cuts so they say they cant afford to mow on both sides of the road per state law. and not opening he shower house this year either, the cabins grass is waist high to.i think the new park cop out there is skimming the money, were does all the campers money go to? place looks like dog sh*t if you ask me

it's all a big conspiracy to hide the Diamonds! If you park way out on the south east side and hike in the hunt path you will come up on mining operation. There flying in and out late at night with stealth copters so the farmers don't see them.

It's not diamonds---get the facts correct.
It's emeralds----they have better value than diamonds or gold.
I saw a truck full the other night! They went out the back side and turned north.

Come on people! Now we all have to fight the mex's even more for the one good spot in the park. Is it legal to barricade a picnic spot so the mexicans can't claim it every f'n sunday?

Why don't you get off your lazy a$$ and beat them out there? First come, first serve! If you really want a spot in the park try getting up before noon and making a real effort! Or you could spend some of your millions and reserve it. If you had even a small piece of brain in your head you could figure it out, I guess the mexican's are a little smarter than you are!

We have taken decorations out there and set up at 7am and several Mexicans still show up after church and act like it is theirs. We had 15 people in the pavilion(our family), with decorations. But they wouldn't leave. We had to call the park rangers office.

Form a FRIENDS OF JOHNSON'S PARK.. Contact the site superintendent to see what kind of things you can go out there and do.. Due to a union contract they can not just call in volunteers to do work... Seriously if you are that concerned about helping save the park call out there and ask..

My friend just drove past the gate lol. I could care less about how tall the grass is. Its a shame they have to do that to the park. Johnsons is just about the only good thing about kewanee

I have seen the rumor online that some or all of our state parks may be "paid admission". As far as Johnsons, I am ok with that as long as the price isn't too high. However, I'd hate to have ppl that like to cruise thru, to have to pay anything. Anyone have a suggestion?
