I agree that the use of deadly force to protect your family is ok. But I heard that 911, call and to me it sounded like she was looking forward to killing somebody. They weren't even in the house yet and she was asking if she could shoot.

I think I would yell that I just called the cops and if that I have a gun.

I think she was totally in the right. You come onto my property with the slightest intent of harming my family and me, I will give no more thought to shooting you dead than I would to crushing an ant. You made your choice.

This should happen more often. It would save the tax payers a lot of money. Look at Nicholas Sheley, what the hell is that going to cost?
And by the way if it sounded like she wanted to shoot them. Remember this lady just lost her husband to cancer. I don't think a jury in the world would convict her. I know I wouldn't.

Someone comes into my house, I don't care if I have a gun, knife or a bat, whoever it is, is gonna be dead or wish they were. This woman was vulnerable and scared for her life and her kids. Does anyone think she should have waited for the cops? If you do, you are an idiot. I have had my house broken into while I was home and thank god I was able to scare him off. I didn't have a gun at the time. Learned my lesson on that one. Next time, I won't be playing the scary guy. Good job ma'am.

I dare someone to break into my house!! The only way my GSD and my pit are letting them leave without injury is if they shoot my dogs.

I agree. I would have yelled out that I have a gun and the cops are on the way. I heard the 911 call also. And by the tone in her voice it did sound like she was excited about the possibility of shooting someone.

I would have done what I could to prevent them from entering my home in the first place. If they ran away so be it. At least my home and children are safe.

I believe it's called state of shock!
Here husband just died, earlier.
Do you think she really wanted to kill someone? More than likely not. But in her mental state!

If I see that she gets charges thrown at her, I'm going to be pissed! She has a right to defend her house, no matter what! Like many others have said, someone breaks into my house, that is a threat to my family, and I WILL kill them, and have no remorse.

The only down side of this story is if the state has to pay for the funeral.
