This week we focus on Linebacker's, otherwise known as the M.O.C.Quite honestly as far as atmosphere it's the cleanest and best layed out bar in kewanee.Tables are set nicely about the large open floor plan. There's a large game room in the back seperate from the bar area. The sperate back bar was added for busy night's, although rarely used.
As far as food there really isnt any other than chip's and such.Customer's arent allowed any tab's so to speak because Linebackers doesnt even have a credit card machine.Big turnoff to large spender's or the occasional few who dont want to run to a ATM or pay large fees at the one positioned in the corner.
Linebacker's is a good spot for booty shakin music and a place to dance after you have had a few. However the crowd here tends to be primarily african american. In the years ive gone there ive never seen many problems tho.Chris and past bouncer's have done a great job of keeping order.
I have to say tho the biggest problem with this bar is the ownership.Chris is very rude to his customer's and runs them off 30-40 minutes before close screaming at them and generally belittling everyone. He's only open 3 day's a week now and is rumored to be loosing money.Overall i'd say he needs to make big changes in his customer base and his attitude. And a real DJ wouldnt hurt either.Overall rating is a 6 out of 10.

I heard mr quagliano wants $750,000 for that bar. Very wishful thinking. His doors will be closed soon which is kind of sad since thats where most of the ktown low life go. Now their gonna be spread out and goin to the bars who dont want them

I Know a few of the good people that used to work there, and they all say its going downhill. For one, the crowd.. I used to go in there quite a bit and it was fun and cool people to hang out with. Now its alot of mexican or black ppl. I am not prejudice against either race.. but anytime i happen to go there for just one drink, there is a fight or some altercation between one group or the other, or both.
Also, it is true that Chris is losing money somewhere. But no one knows where lol. Maybe his gf that he has there with him everynite... seems like ever since she came into the picture the bars been going downhill. Just my opinion tho.

Francies little buddy "peter tanzillo" would be able to make the place "what it use to be". Chris has no people skills or business sense. I'm not trying to slam anyone, just saying peter could bring back a better crowd and bands on the weekends and rake in the dough like francie use to do... The name "linebackers" doesn't sound right either..rename it " Emmo Sea ".....
i agree

I heard Goods was gonna buy it and build an "over the street walkway" to it and turn it into a b.y.o.b strip joint ?????

I agree. The bar should have been left to Peter! It has gone down hill since he left.

I agree with your statement "Goldmine", bring the bands back. I can't remember the last time Linebackers had a live band. Hell it might have still been the MOC when they did. That's when it used to be a decent place to drink.

Chris wont have a band play there. That would piss off his main clientel aka the negros. Apparently its more important to him to make them happy with havin a dj every weekend instead of actually makeing money

Some very good point's made here today.I have also heard Peter had a much better business sense and people skills. And as far as band's,yes it poses a problem. He would be forcing one race group out for another. And he would have to do it weekly almost to create a draw.
My job is nightlife and ive done dozen's of bar consultation's.Take La Fayette for instance just outside Galva. They have a band, sometimes two every weekend. They pay for the best bands in central Illinois.Stepdown,Mindset Evolution,Phat Kitty and more.BUT they rake in the money.
The list of problem's goes on and on but thanks for the feedback everyone.

Let's think about the normal clientele of Linebackers, and then think about our current economy. Anyone have a thought about why Linebackers is struggling and yet Cernos, Pioneer, Chill 'n Grill are doing well or at least ok? Answer! The normal clientele of Linebackers is poor, on state aid, with families, unemployed often, etc. Hmm....

I take offense to being called a lowlife. Some of us that visit the place are longtime friends of Judy. We have jobs, pay our bills, take care of our families, and actually care about her.Putting everyone who visits a bar that you dont care about into one catagory is not fair. You probably visit one that Id consider a hang out for low lives.

I was told yesterday that the only reason it is still open at all is because John Summy is taking care of the bills for Chris. How sad. Francie had a good bar there and since his passing it has done nothing but go down hill

How do you get different people in and draw more people in? one band coming is not going to change everyones mind to come to linebackers every weekend so how would you change a bar into a different place then it is know?
