I am also curious of each. I would like to sign my daughter up for things that she is interested in this summer. The Y is closer for us but would like reviews.

I have taken my daughter to tumbling at the ymca for 5 years. Sometimes I wish there wasn't so many other classes going on all at the same time, but my daughter loves it! I do not like the new scarlet girl that works tumbling, I have seen a toddler make her cry! I personally wish Jill milroy was still teaching. She's barely ever in the tramp center anymore.

I've taken my daughter to Y tumbling and she loved it but doesn't really learn much. I feel part of that is that it's just expensive play time for her. Many of the instructors are too young and parents have to run out there and tell their child not to do something or to pay attention. We have not tried Patti's.

I started both of my children at the YMCA, I didn't feel as if they were learning anything. They have to many classes going on at one time and most of the instructors are young with no clue how to handle or teach young kids. Rachel Shrum is a great teacher but only works with the team. I started my kids at Patti's last year and would have to say it is a TON better. It is not as clean and fancy but the kids learned more in a month there then they did at the YMCA in three years. Sara is a fantastic teacher and keeps control of the class. For the younger classes at the YMCA the last 15-20 minutes of a 45 minute class is wasted playing in the block pit and not tumbling.

I took my daughter to Patti's gym when she was smaller and we both thought it was great. Smaller group of girls and to me she got the proper training and attention that was needed. It was great!

Lighten up. Chances of any of them going to the Olympics is slim and none. Just let them have fun!

My little gal goes to Pattie's! We love sarah! She really cares about the kids. She had her first lock in not too long ago...she had a blast. I'm very impressed with her improvement in such short time. Sarah was also very helpful when my little gal experienced some anxiety. Rachel Shrum is very good at what she does as well. Pattie's just suited us better and a little more affordable.

Jill Milroy has has too many great tumblers to count...thee YMCA is a great program they teach the skills until they are good and don't let kids learn new things till they are ready...pattis kids just learn everything wrong.

Please do not be jaded by the rivalry between Patti's and the Y. I personally took tumbling and dance at both for years and gymnastics specifically from Patti's. Speaking from 10+ years of personal experience, the Y was terrific for ballet. Hands down. As far as tumbling goes, Patti's was far superior. For many reasons. Smaller classes, more focused, the kids were more disciplined and we were expected to listen and behave and we did. The training was more intense, but very friendly and kind at the same time. Gymnastics was the same. Every year we performed a big "Review" and it was hard work but it was wonderful and we all loved it. I am guessing Patti isn't running it herself anymore. I learned directly from her. She was tough, but kind and good. I can't imagine anybody running her gym who does not possess those same qualities. I am not saying that the Y is bad. It isn't. I know there were a couple of girls I went to school with who also took from both at the same time. Their main interests were dance though. For ballet I say the Y. Jazz....Patti's wins hands down. Tumbling and gymnastics...if you are truly wanting your child to learn correct form, please choose Patti's.

Patty's has produced MANY Jr. Olympic gold medalist and National Champions. Some have even went on to careers at places like cirque du soleil. Patty's wins hands down in my book.
