Who's going to ride a bike in 4 feet of snow, 25 degrees outside. Remember, we have 5 months of winter! Let's put the 1.9 million towards a new jail!

This project is right up there with Nancy Pelosi's thirty million salt harvest mouse study. Usage would be very seasonal at best. The local culture is not like Southern California with a plethora of joggers, hikers, bicyclists, skateboarders, etc who would use it. The distance round trip is fourteen miles; too far for a hike and even too far for the few on bicycles who would use it. The route is less than scenic, especially with its close proximity to the railroad tracks. If the funds are earmarked for specifically this sort of thing, then use it for more turnouts on the highway or wider shoulders for farm equipment that would get far greater usage from the money. Are there any guarantees under the bidding process that the project won't go to a company in Spokane large enough to do it? Sure won't help the locals, will it?
