It's more than that. I would assume that BP has insurance to cover some of their liability. Now gee, who else carries insurance? Just oil companies?
It's true. We all pay. In fact, several years ago, my home insurance dropped me because of a major fire caused by one of my tenants. When I finally got another insurance to cover me, they stated that my last company drastically underinsured me for major repairs. They had to charge much more.
So I asked my new agent what do they base total loss on? Surprise! Union labor to rebuild my home in the event of tragedy. So now I have to pay higher premiums on my properties based on union scale whether I use them or not.
These are all intrinsic costs that most of us don't see. Just like with BP, they increase their prices; maybe not on gasoline, but a few cents more on coffee, doughnuts, cigarettes or pop. But one way or another, these indirect costs pay for losses, and those costs are passed on to all of us. Yet, liberals celebrate when the "big guy" gets his. LOL!
Yeah. We should encourage these guys to blow up people and destroy the oceans.

Congrats. I didn't think you were that smart. Yes, you are correct, they will get that money from us--the consumers. In fact, that's where most large companies and wealthy people recoup their losses--us, the little people.
I know you're a big lib, but there's hope for you yet.
What are you worried about? The free market will sort it out.

Of course. Let's set what the Chinese would do as our basis for conduct. What other behaviors of the Chinese government do you advocate we adopt?

Both of us have expounded on the effects of business in adequate fashion. Please allow me to add one more of the possible many more.
'Progressives' have complained about taxing the rich & some sort of subsidy companies, especially mega-companies. But then government entities give tax breaks to the same companies to bring OR keep jobs in certain places. Pls allow me to ask WHO provides the benefit to any given government to cover those tax breaks? Answer; the working stiff, white or blue collar that still pays income tax, property tax for their home, gasoline tax to commute, sales tax whenever they purchase ANYTHING in the geographic area, utility, cable or satellite, phone taxes, school taxes whether or not they have kids, parking fees that result in tax payments etc etc.
My point to the non-thinking? No matter the expense of ANY corporation, or company, the END consumer pays ALL operation expenses or the company would be OUT of business. Plain & Simple.
So there really is NO such thing as 'taxing the Rich'.
Do those that hear that Exxon, Apple, coal companies, Delta Airlines, P&G or whomever are being taxed (along with their CEO's, researchers, marketers etc) are being taxed & think that that is "FAIR" & that 'they' are getting a break, do NOT realize that once again, that the final consumer, being John & Jane Doe aren't paying those taxes? The company would be out of business if NOT passing the tax/operating expenses on.
I probably worded this awkwardly but I hope that I made my economic point to the niave or mentally impaired.

Maybe if we undermine any form of American workers uniting against these greedy corporations by listening to their propaganda and calling any form of universal rights for those hard working tax payers things like Communism or Socialism and we believe in the garbage they dumped on us through trickle down theories and slapping Jesus on the side of their...oops I meant your poltical agenda, it would solve the complex problems facing Americans in this global economy.

<quoted text>From the average Joe that buys their product of course.
So the people that purchase BP products will pay the 4 billion. And for those that think that personally boycotting BP means that they won't be paying...wrong. When Shell, Exxon or whoever have their retail sales go up, they will supplement their own then inadequate production by purchasing crude or refined from BP.
There is NO way that the end consumer will not be paying the 4 billion.
Good question XXX.
Yah, if only Americans would start hugging trees and being dirty liberal hippies those companies wouldn't have us by the balls so bad...you know, alternative energy. Let's all laugh and shake our fist at the air for Jimmy Carter putting solar panels on the whitehouse and asking Americans to conserve energy. What an outdated kook. You keep tripping over your own agenda there, old timer.

If a community is Hindu or Islamic, then of course I have no problem with them teaching those religions. After all, school is a locally funded thing. If an Islamic community funds it's public schools, then those who are paying for the school should be allowed to dictate the curriculum--not the federal government.
It would be interesting to see you share your pro-Islam and pro-Hindu views with the rest of the people in your camp.

You know, everything that takes electricity in your home is coming from Japan or China. Americans fly to India for medical procedures because the health care makes our look like the middle ages. If you goons could understand that America needs to learn to strive for the cutting edge in these fields and that can only be obtained through investing in our education system, we wouldn't be so far behind on these things. You guys are still afraid of color television and think Elvis is the devil. Your religion is nice and all but keep it in your homes and your churches and let science do it's thing. Do you realize what medical miracles could have been accomplished right now through stem cell research if it wasn't for superstitious people and their fear based visions of stem cell baby farms and the idea that somehow they know what God secretly wants?

Wonder if Fox News of any rightwing politician, directly representing the ideals of what he believes in, has made any mention of it? I'm sure it hasn't even made a ripple in the Christian Conservative Tea Party's pond.
