If one believes a law is unjust or immoral, you must disobey. Be prepared to suffer the consequences. This seems a little ridiculous to me, with all the drugs, illegals, major crimes. But it was easy for the police to do and appear to be big shots.
If people want fireworks, they will get them and use them. Tough luck.

It is hypocritical to allow the sale of fireworks that you aren't allowed to shoot off inside the state. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, knows that 100% of the fireworks bought at Phantom Fireworks and such stores are shot off in Ohio. Either close the stores, or legalize the fireworks. The current system makes a mockery of the law.

For real, leave it go. Times are hard and folks are only trying to have somewhat of a hustle; least it isn't drugs. Damn! Sell you the fireworks, collect the tax, then then bust your balls over it. Hypocrites for real.

Google Scottown Ohio Fireworks and and you will see not only all the news stories of the tragedy that took nine lives but that the owner of the fireworks store was illegaly selling fireworks out of the back of his pickup truck a few years after the fire.

Folks, these aren't the firecrackers that Phantom sells. These ARE bombs. There is more explosive potential in a 4 inch shell than in a hand grenade.
Which means if it's not handled safely and fired properly it can kill people, in a radius of about 50 feet.

I know that people want to set off their bottle rockets and that sort of thing that Phantom sells, I don't have an issue with that. I think they need to relax the laws in Ohio, require a rider on insurance for class C fireworks displays and charge $20 for a permit that would go to a general fund for firefighters for equipment. Even bottle rockets can start fires. Actually, Sparklers are a serious fire hazard because of the heat involved. They will about burn under water, and are hot enough the set fire to anything. Reality is they ARE more dangerous than firecrackers.

As far as commercial show fireworks, these still need tight regulation. ONLY trained and licensed persons should be handling this level of explosive potential. Fireworks are beautiful when displayed properly. But the Reynoldsburg accident in 95 was solid proof that they can kill. And the person killed was over 400 feet away from the point of the explosion. Do you want that sort of potential in your neighbors garage or basement?

I was a licensed that year and had done the Park of Roses show that year and for the prior two as well. I have the knowledge and training behind what I an saying. The stuff at Phantom can burn down you and your neighbors home, the stuff these guys had would blow it off their foundations.

Gotta agree with Keith...

The people who can't understand why they confiscated these just don't understand the risk they posed. Transporting these in a pickup truck could be catastrophic if it was in an accident. And storing these and selling them to the general public is mind boggling to anyone with a brain.

Please, please, before you comment on an article, read and comprehend it. Don't just look at the headline and the pictures.

And, to anyone whoe thinks fireworks of any kind are a good idea should work in an emergency room this time of year. What a stupid law, you can buy all you want, but just tell me you'll take them outta state. Lets outlaw them all together.

It's the new thing. The 'War on Fireworks'. Just like the 'War on Drugs' and the 'War on Terror', all great success stories.

Crews took eight 4-inch shells and more than 20 two-and-a-quarter inch shells which are items that are classified as professional fireworks. Investigators also took several consumer grade fireworks.

They must have got some firecrackers to make up the rest of the, "Hundreds Of Illegal Fireworks Seized."

When I was a kid, we used to set off cherry bombs, black cats and roman candles all the time. No one EVER got hurt. Dad used to let us hold roman candles in our hands and send them shooting across the field.
Just because some idiots who can't use common sense get hurt, it means EVERYONE can't have fun on the 4th of July. Instead, we have to go to some traffic snarl for the honor of getting mugged (downtown) to see 20 minute show and then spend four hours in traffic trying to get home.
Thank you nanny liberals. Can I have back my freedom now?
