Yes Palin was for the Bridge until it was discovered that Stevens and Murkowski owned the land they were going to build the bridge on- Politicians looking to make millions off the Feds- Sara stopped that, The money that was taken for the bridge and went to Hurricane Katrina - you forgot about that! Then the bridge was put off and the money was put toward the Knik Arm Bridge that links two large population areas in AK. Don't turn the bridge into a weapon against Sara until you know the whole story. L-48's need to mind your own issues before blowing Alaska issues out of balance.
It's a different world up here.

Lets get this bridge record straight. Palin did not seek or ask for these funds, but Obama did and he voted for the funds for this bridge to no where.

Governors do not have the legislative ability to ask or seek for such funds. The Senate and Congress has that responsibility. Remember Obama VOTED for these funds, NOT Palin. Keep smiling.......

Question, I heard that the funds were going to come to Alaska no matter what it had something to do with Federal road and gas tax is that correct?

WASHINGTON (AP)- Deep-seated racial misgivings could cost Barack Obama the White House if the election is close, according to an AP-Yahoo News poll that found one-third of white Democrats harbor negative views toward blacks—many calling them "lazy," "violent" or responsible for their own troubles.
The poll, conducted with Stanford University, suggests that the percentage of voters who may turn away from Obama because of his race could easily be larger than the final difference between the candidates in 2004—about 2.5 percentage points.

Right...and the Knik Arm Bridge is caught in a small quagmire of its own - Palin has a small stake in some land near where one end will touch; the traffic studies are mixed as to its benefit; and it is going through some sensitive ecological areas, causing Palin to fight the designation of a beluga whale population from being listed as threatened.

The larger truth is that her overly simplistic response is not accurate; she hired a lobbyist when she was mayor, and brought in some $27 million in earmarks for Wasilla, the meth capital of Alaska (curiously, scant of those millions went to drug prevention, nor to purchase rape kits for victims - they had to pay for their own kits...what a crock!); and, though she HAS not asked for as much as Murkowski did, she still has reuqested enough for Alaska to still rank #1 per capita in earmark largess. That's through this year.

When you couple those facts with the following items:
1.) Questionable use of private emails to sidetep subpoena laws;
2.) CC-ing her husband - who hold NO elected office - on official emails and meeting documents (including energy policy items, with him an employee of BP no less);
3.) A record of cronyism (the head of the state department of agriculture is a high school chum, who cited her "chlidhood love of cows" as qualification for the post), secrecy, and vendetta leadership (see the librarian incident in Wasilla, "Troopergate" and other instances of firing those she deemed unloyal or questionable).

No, she's less qualified than Dan Quayle.

Palin's rise to the national spotlight has made the "lower 48" aware that a state with such an abundance of oil that the citizens get paid by the state instead being taxed is the highest per capita state in the U.S. in earmarks.

Were is your proof that he was not a POW? I have a hard time believing that that is the case and it hasn't been all over the press as many times as he has run for office. Spreading lies only destroys your credibility

I figured out why there is so much criticism being thrown at Palin. It's a clever way to deflect the public's interest away from Obama and his questionable background and experience. I'll take a bear hunting, mother of five over a media created celebrity anyday.

Thanks for the incredibly useful info and discussion on an Alaskan bridge to nowhere.

Not that it matters, but where is the similarly detailed and stmulating discussion on her stance and plan on health care for our elderly?

Or ditto on dealing effectively with the Iranian nuclear programs?

Or the current world economic crisis?
