It is my understanding that there were many complaints made to many people... It was ignored until this brave young man came forward. It seems no one believes such a "nice man who gives so much" could possibly be an abuser. Finally people are listening... finally parents are thinking to ask their kids... But how many kids suffered while parents were enamored by his gifts? It is bittersweet... if he is guilty how many did he hurt? If he is not... his life is ruined. Either way... people should have listened an d ASKED questions a long time ago!
If so many people knew about this for so long, why were parents not alerted that something may be happening. my son was a part of this troop for many years. i've heard numerous complaints about Dave but nothing involving illegal sexual abuse. I also never witnessed him giving gifts to boys. What i saw, was boys wanting to be around him. Why did parents allow their childern to spend so much time with Dave if they suspected anything? And why not try and stop future victims by warning fellow parents of their knowledge. this is unbelievable to me.

You don't know what I did and didn't do. Due to the ongoing investigation I will not comment but what I will say is......... yes I was smart in 2004. Thank you.
I hope that this was not your child directly affected by this. if so, i can't imagine the pain you and your family are going through.

I would not let anyone judge you for posts. You are being honest with your comments. No one can say what they would do in any situation. Without clear cut proof, these cases can be difficult.

Before everyone begins to condemn him, remember that there still needs to be a trial and conviction. It is extremely wrong to jump to these conclusions on an accusation alone.

I met Dave when I was a 12 year-old girl. I'm now a 19 year-old woman. I find it so strange that my first instinct when I met this man was to STAY AWAY. He was closely involved with one of my best male friends at the time (who was also 12 years old), and I actually remember asking my friend if Dave had ever "done anything" to him. His response was something along the lines of "What the ****? NO!!", but I still had the strangest feeling in my gut. If these allegations are true, I find it slightly disturbing that a 12 year-old girl was able to pick up on these "bad vibes", but ADULTS who interacted with this man on a day-to-day basis were not able to. People, don't ignore your gut feelings. Even though it is in common practice to assume the best in people... you could be saving someone from a lot of pain by simply calling attention to a potentially harmful situation.

I'm not one to make hasty accusations... but considering that my friend is an adult now, I'm sure he will come forward if any type of indecent activity has occurred in the past.
