Im not here to make anyone mad just to speak from the heart.. I just dont understand how people can say mean things about people.. Yes this young man has screwed up and made many mistakes.. But you or no one else is god.. Why do people knock black men so hard.. Cause at the end of the day this young man did not live on section 8 nor was he raised like this.. So for anyone to say someone is waste of space is just mean and not right.. Alot of people takes one side of the story and not listen to the other side.. Why did the police do a high speed chase around charlottesville and know that kids play on the st or that people could be at their mailboxes or on their bikes.. If you have not walked in someone else shoes never JUDGE cause it only makes a butt of you.. JUST SOMEONE THAT FEELS THE PAIN AND HURT FROM BOTH SIDES..
Yeah, there are still some places where if you commit crimes, you are considered a criminal, and, as such, some unkind things may be said about you. I only ever feel sorry for the victims of crime and their families...I NEVER extend any sympathy towards the family of the perpetrator.

Everybody has reasons for being the way they are. Whether it's upbringing, mental illness, inability to work within a system, or whatever else is all irrelevant to me. If someone is a danger to others, then they need to be taken off the street. This guy should have already been locked up for previous violent offenses.

No, I am not God and will never pretend to be. I happen to know this fool, his family and knew his mother; I refuse to speak ill of the dead. We cannot turn a blind eye to our children's criminal behavior and expect everyone else to be as accepting or not to have their own opinion. When living in close proximity to the family and watching what went on, the handwriting was on the wall. I know one thing, he would never had been my choice for any of my daughters. All the disrespect and commotion he carried out when he got upset; we,as neighbors, had to endure.... Don't tell me I don't know this individual. I am just a BLACK as he is; but striving to live a better life. He is an embarrassment not only to the race but to the gender. Therefore I refuse to cal him MAN young or old.

Well said Sickened. People need to own up to what had transpired in their life, not turn their head and ignore or pretend it didn't happen. Own up to it. This isn't about black or white.
That's what's wrong with society today!

I've known this guy for years and he was NEVER violent. The thing is the commonwealth is always saying work, work, work but the employers out here won't give a black man a job because of a charge so that's when they turn to the life they know (selling drugs)

Okay, so we both have known him for years and I've never known him not to be violent. Because HE EARNED his criminal status didn't mean he had to remain a criminal. He could have gotten technical training and made something of himself instead of looking for the quick fast money and dangerous lifestyle he chose. Had he shot at you or your family member, I know you'd be singing a different tune. We can't look for others to do for us what we are not willing to do for ourselves. REALLY though!!!!

Mr. McDaniel offers us a nice place to live at an affordable price w/ water, sewer, cable, heat included and we are a lower class of people because we take advantage of that or because you own your house and we are drug dealing, scum, criminals as you insinuated because we rent these rooms. Shame on you folks for saying that. Be thankful you are in the position to own your own home. Wish I did. Thank you Mr. McDaniel.

So, you're proud of living in a home like this, GO FIGURE. I'd be ashamed to live like this.
We see the comings and going on in these homes. We hear the fighting and see the
drinking and drug goings on in these houses. We see the kind of people who frequent these homes. The police and rescue squads are at your home constantly.
You've ruined my neighborhood. Get a job! Get a Life. Let me get back to mine.
Mr. McDaniel should put these people up in his neighborhood and see how he likes it.

I agree that a common problem that this is a big problem. From a liability standpoint, businesses are practically not allowed to hire folks with records, so what are they [the people with the record] supposed to do? People on here wanna scream and shout about "they 'earned' their criminal record" and blah, blah, blah...no one is arguing that they didn't screw up, the point here is, how is someone who has a criminal record supposed to get on the straight and narrow if they can't get a job? Our system says to the criminal "get a job, get a job, get a job, stop being a criminal and get a job" but our system says to the job givers "don't hire criminals"...so what is the criminal who wants to get a job and not be a criminal anymore supposed to do? I totally agree that it's a very tough situation and one that absolutely encourages recidivism

perhaps you could offer some of these folks a well-paying job that would allow them to move out of your precious neighborhood...any chance of that?
