So now the county wants to rais our proprty taxes another 1.48 per $1,000.00 assessed value in addition to the ongoing 3% increase we currently have to pay. This is to support law enforcemnt. In addition, there is another tax levy on the upcoming ballot to raise our taxes by taking $1.29 per $1,000.00 assessed value in support of Eduation.
It's no wonder people are selling their homes and renting! Homeowners are so tired of footing the bill for county services. Is it just me or doesn't it seem incredibly lopsided that Education by itself takes 59% of the property tax dollar in Josephine County? That leaves the remaining dollars to be divided up between
Law Enforcement, City, County, Fire Districts and 4-H ? Are they kidding? I am all for educating our kids but come on, seriously 59%!?? I believe the taxpayers will once again vote down this sixth run at raising our property taxes in the May 2013 vote. There is a reason we continue to vote against these additional taxes. What's the saying about repeatedly doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result? After we vote against these tax raises for the sixth time
this May, will the county take a serious look at it's lopsided aportionment of tax dollars or go for a seveth run?. Everyone is panicking because the Federal Govermnemt in no longer kicking down money to us in compensation for their wholesale slaughter of the timber industry in the northwest. Well yaay for the environmentalist nut lobby and liberal Federal government folks. They got their way. They saved some owls, and now, as a county, we must pay the price. Everyone has to do a bunch of belt tightening and that includes Education. Did you know our county pays huge sums to contract for education services for mentally handicapped toddlers and uses your tax dollars to provide classes to teach illegal alien children the English language? Did you know healthy chunk of your property tax dollars are going to the Southern Oregon Education Services District for these purposes? I guess it is nice to provide all of these programs for the kiddies but not in exchange for a total lack of law enforcement in this county. No one was ever killed because a 3 year old illegal alien had to learn English in church or from a friend or neighbor instead of homeowners paying for their ESL classes. Once again, take a look at this irresponsible use of your tax dollar. This 59% chunk for Education is completely disproportionate. Now Education wants to hit us for another 1.29 per $1,000.00 of your assessed property value in May. This is ridiculous, even for those liberal- minded, warm and fuzzy do-gooders who love to help the disenfranchised. They are the same ones who pay rent to live in a home where they have no property taxes to scrape up every year and use all of the social services the homeowners pay for. How special. Let's get real people. A new broom sweeps clean. Maybe we should have a change of the guard in county government.
