Local Girl asks for money to donate instead of birthday gifts

Amanda Karram, of Flanders NJ, turned 11 years old in May. She invited her friends to her birthday party but asked them not to bring gifts for her but to give money that she would donate to an Animal Shelter.

Very commendable. It's is nice to occasionally see people sometimes think of others rather than always themselves. This is especially true when a young child decides that toys aren't very important, and would rather help out animals. A+
