Sorry about posting that twice. But it is the case most relevant to this discussion. There have been several other cases solved through pet DNA, though. Ultimately, this is just one brick in the wall that is a prosecutor's case, but if they did, indeed, genetically match that cat hair found in his truck cover to Patti's cats, man, that is bad news for him.

Because she thought she was going on a trip, according to what I've read, Patti took her cats to be boarded the day she went missing. That's probably why she had their hair all over her when she got into that truck bed. Her pets may be what helps her get justice.

It's a crazy world.

I hope you are right and this does help her family get justice for her. But why haven't they used that and arrested him already? The cat hair alone should have been enough for him to be in prison years and years ago. I don't understand why they are waiting on blood evidence when they have the cat hair and proof he only used the truck cover for that weekend.

The circumstantial case is really strong. But they don't have her body, sadly. The police had the same kind of evidence against Scott Peterson, but they didn't arrest him until days after her body was found. Same goes with the Drew Peterson case. They have him in jail for murder of Kathleen Savio, whose body they have, but not for Stacey, whose body I don't think they will ever find.

In Patti's case, this guy's supporters seem to be modeling his "defense" on Drew Peterson's explanation of why Stacey "went missing," in my opinion. First of all, Drew Peterson obviously killed her. The circumstantial evidence is OVERWHELMING. However, he hid her body very well. And now Drew and his supporters are saying Stacey just left her kids and her family and her whole life to run off and start a new one. He points to HER MOTHER HAVING LEFT THEIR FAMILY YEARS AGO. Sound familiar? In Patti's case, this guy's supporters keep pointing to her "bipolar father" who "left her family" years ago. They are also trying, as with the Drew Peterson case, to paint her as an unstable, bad person. Which is obviously not the case. She was a single mother holding down (and excelling at!) at a demanding job. She supervised people, and by all accounts, she did it very well. Well enough she was up for a promotion.

Hopefully the blood evidence will be enough to arrest. There have been many convictions without finding the body, only to have the perpetrator show police where the body is after proclaiming their innocence only to get a reduced prison term. Sigh. This is human nature. There will always be these damaged individuals walking among us.

Also, Derek (the nephew who Brian once lived with before he was married), Brian did use to go fishing at a remote cabin in Canada with his friends annually, so it is ironic that she said that is where she was going with him. If she just stalked him and he didn't talk to her, why did she know things like that. I still don't think he did it, but he knows more than what he is telling the feds. He has to.

She wasn't a stalker. A stalker persists after the first, second and third "NO!". And it's easily stopped if the pursuer isn't a psycho. If I were stalked by someone like her (I should be so lucky :>) and the female wouldn't take no for an answer, I'd have a sit down with her in private and spell it out. No is NO - this is hurting my family. But someone like Patti would have immediately got on the phone to one of her sisters and cried her eyes out. That didn't happen. This married guy could have told his wife and SHE could have delivered the message.(Women understand women btter!) That didn't happen either. And he could have used the nuclear option and gone to Honda management - that didn't happen. So I think this guy may have been "pursued" but he was cooperating and liking it. Unfortunately she was playing right into his plan.

Love how that show did not tell that Brian took lie test and passed it. Did not say how far in debt she was, left out how you clock out of work at Honda and there is 20 to 30 people all walking out together. Work there and know she was what we call today a stalker. They did not use his name at all and why do you think that was. They tried to make her out to be so great, well i cought during it how they said the first thing she always did when she would get back from long stays was to call her daughter, crawls in the back of trucks, chases married men. I think she is alive and running from debt.
Ridiculous comment. I see you are another genius with a high IQ of 12.

THat is all I am saying. How can you fail a lie test, if you can why do they use them.
Being in Law Enforcement for over 25 yrs. I can testify that many guilty people pass lie detector examinations. If you want to solve a crime... look first to who would most benefit by committing the crime. Problem solved.

Actually i was thinking they said he did pass a lie detector test. You ask why do they use the test? How old are you? He also said he didn't know her well, but she gave him a t-shirt, a card, then her dna is in his truck bed?? Hmmmm yeah he's innocent!

although it's rare, it is possible to deceive the test to pass or fail the test when you are truthful. this is why lie detectors are only used as directional tools for investigators, not hard evidence. no one has ever been convicted only on lie detector results.

This message is for Melissa, you must know the family..I did watch the show and no I dont know Brian nor do I know Patti...But I do know this why would someone except a birthday card from someone if they do not know them and why would they rip it up in fear that there wife would get jealous..what would she need to get jealous of if he didnt really even know Patti...I would say he is hiding something and it is a damn shame if she did give him all that money and he took her from her child..He should of never been leading her on in the first place..It did not look like she was in dept if the facts of the show are correct..Another thing I have never seen him come on television to say he has anything to do with this..to the person that made the comment about the lie detector test, people can pass those..I would not take someone to court or try someone in a case unless I had all the evidence and its kinda hard to convict someone with out a body sometimes and I am sure that they only wanna try him once!!!I did watch the show...I watched it twice!!!!

Saw the show. IMHO The good news is that Patty is most likely alive. She almost certainly took off to start a new life somewhere else( maybe Canada?).
She appeared to me to have some psych issues and this type of behavior is not that unusual. She'll turn up some day.

Just happened to see the show...and it sounded hinky to me. Why are the cops sitting on the blood evidence? Looks like they have way more than enough for current DNA testing. Come on, nanograms are all you need nowadays. Is the sample hopelessly degraded?

And if the cat DNA actually matched the missing woman's cat, why isn't this guy busted already, since he's caught in an obvious lie? Is the cat DNA an EXACT match? Was there something wrong with the testing that a defense lawyer could bust in court?

I dunno, sounds like they could be trying to sweat the suspect because the case may not really be as strong as the ID show makes it seem. Yeah, I know about double jeopardy and you only get one chance, yadda yadda. But the I'm skeptical of the hand-waving about "waiting for better technology." I starting to think this case has more problems than the show let on.

Could be one last effort to force the suspect into some kind of mistake. Maybe they got a wire on somebody close to him and they hope the show will make him spill a few incriminating words.

The more I think about the show, the more it looks like a sweat effort, with a wire close to the suspect. If they got the cat hair indisputably DNA-matched in the truck, they might have as well have a quart of the missing woman's blood splattered on the front seat. They know she was in the truck and the guy is lying and the story she told to her family and friends is true.

And if they've got a visible speck of blood, they've got OCEANS more than they need for current DNA testing. Has the sample already been tested and found useless or contaminated? Does the sample even exist any more?

All the hand-waving about "waiting for technology" sounds like code for "waiting for the guy to crack, because we're listening."

One more thing. The show sweated the wife hard, too. The wire could be on somebody close to her.

Is it possible that the boyfriend and his wife planned this out to get her money and then murdered her? Just wondering if anyone looked at it like this. Very odd that they would both sit and have a 3am conversation for 45 minutes (allegedly). If my spouse and I got a call like that at 3am (or whatever time) we would hang up assuming that it was some crazy person. Unless, of course we were involved. Just saying!
