I read today on wktn.com that applications are being accepted for the position of City Safety Director. Who do you think would be a good person for the job and why? What would you like to see improved or implemented?

Do you think that the applicant should have to reside within city limits as the law formerly stated, before Mr. Schaffer took office?

I think you should have residency, its only fair. However, in today's two income households, its almost impossible anymore, especially if your spouse works in another town. It would be more realistic to have them live in the county.

However, I do think they need to give extra consideration to applicants who already live in the city or are willing to move into the city limits.

I felt Mr. Schaffer was doing a good job.

My 2 Cents, I see your point. I would rather have someone more qualified for the job, who lives outside of the city limits versus someone who lives in town that is not as qualified, obtain the position.

Guest, can you give some examples of the good job that you feel Mr. Schaffer was doing?

That's what going to be hard for Kenton. In a town this small, there are few, if any, who would be qualified. You almost have to look out of town in order to bring someone in who would do a good job.

Mr. shafer was responsible for filling in the pot holes in the city. Go down East Carrol st. shaffer didn't do anything good for this community. Look at when the snow is piled up on your streets. The only streets that got plowed was the ones that the state did. My street didn't get plowed for weeks. The $50 dollar reconnection fee from the water department needs to go away. I'm sorry, but their hours are from 8 to 4. If I drop my water bill off at 7:30 and it still gets turned off is uncalled for. When I called the water department they informed me that the water bills that are dropped off in the box are collected at 7:00 am I still had to pay $50 to get my water turned back on. I was driving down Eliza street last winter and hit a pot hole. Funny that the city was there the same day repaving this street. According to this guy nobody reported this road or these potholes. Really then why was the city there repairing the street? I had to pay for the new tire not the city. Even though by the time I went down the same street to pick my kid up from school it was getting repaved. According to Mr Shaffer, unless someone else reported this pot hole I hit then the city isn't responsible. Fire his ass.. Please Mr Manns go down each and every side street and get them fixed. It cost me 120 for a new tire.
The water tastes like shit. Fill up your glass and see what floats to the top. Our trash system sucks. We have to pay $5 for trash bags for 4 bags. plus the city is getting money for our cans and glass. Uncalled for. For each one of our commissioners and mayor that voted this in I hope you fry. Stop taking away our rights as US citizens and allowing us the freedom of choice.

I agree "office Ladies". Although I've not been treated rudely by them I have seen how they treat people that you can tell don't have much. Everybody deserves the same repect. Doesn't matter if you scrape the last penny or you are well off. We are all under the same utility. I've even seen a man who that had a thick asian accent come in to have service put in his name and the shorter office lady with frecklles was practically laughing in his face.

I get a chuckle out of a citizen explaining "If you pay your water bill when it is due you dont have to worry about it getting shut off" or "pay your bill on time for once" when I am sure those citiazens are on welfare and I am the one actually paying for their water, cracks me up.

just heard on WKTN that the old mayor found out about Randy taking applications, so the mayor put a halt to it because he didn't know anything about it.The radio said they could take up resumes to his office, but they weren't hiring at this time!

Actually ive never been on welfare. But if you would like to pay my water bill I would let you. I find it ammusing thst people are gonna complain about thier water getting shut off cause they didnt pay the bill on time, but I would bet tjey paid thier cell phone bill and thier internet bill first. They dont shut your water off when you are a day late. Its probably at least 2 or 3 months behind.
