I'm not real thrilled with the new proceedure. I personally don't need someone doing my paperwork, or, telling me what machines I'm going to run...They make the same $ I do. Team Leaders are not needed. It just leads to an Ego trip for some.
One "Team Leader" gave 3 high speeds to an individual, and, took a roll fed and a 5 case an hr. to themself, and, a roll fed, and, 10 case an hr. to the other, and, a 5 hr. case an hr. to share among 3 operators.
Another took 2 high speeds, and, spread the rest of the 12 out between 2 others,(roll fed included,numbering 3), saying they would "Help Out.)While sitting as usual on a machine stair.
The last "Cell" I was in, we decided to make a "Group decision" on the rules of the "Cell". One out of 4 did not pull their own weight.Never venturing from their machines to lift a finger during the break process. When asked"Why?".,They replied,"I didn't know they were on break".
This is NOT going to work!

Welcome to the world of Total Quality Management. I dont know the history of the management methods at IP, but I'm guessing that it was the old "Top Down" method of the plant manager and the supervisors running the show, telling the employees what they were to do, and employees having very little if any input into the business.What you are experiencing is a complete culture change, where teams are formed, and the employees are responsible for making decisions about their particular jobs rather than someone doing it for them. This is a good thing, give it time. Employees will begin taking ownership in their work, making them more committed to doing the job right and producing a quality product. It is a proven method that has been successful worldwide. If you have a good manager, the team leaders will be constantly coached. They will become leaders who are committed to grow more leaders within their respective work teams. In time, supervisors will not be needed, as the employees are making all decisions regarding their jobs. Who knows better about how their job should be done than guy/girl that does it?

TQM- I understand the "Ownership" of a job, it's the ones who could care less about it. How do you convert them? How do you develope them into team players? Not just on the mngmnt end, but on the playing field?

I don't need to play a looseing game with my numbers over people who could care less. After all, I could loose my job if my numbers were less than acceptable.

I didn't know idiots would even post here... I thought I was alone in all of this....Whooo Hooo

And when has HR spent any time in the machine room, except to walk thru and smile at you? They are not totaly in touch.

Apparently the Management of the machine room looks at Topix. I've already had feedback on the subject from them.(and they don't even know it's me!) It was a shot in the dark to post on Topix, I voiced my opinion to several before posting. Possitive feedback I might add.

I just crapped my self and it ran down my leg , so i wiped it off the bottom of my pant leg w/ a napkin and shoved it in a box, taped it up and away she goes !.Sorry i did it. i had to get it off my leg ! you you weren't paying attention, and i didn't want to draw attention !

It's been a while since I had anything to say to mngmnt., I have a new complaint, and I hope they are monitoring this post. Upper mngmnt has been putting alot of pressure on Machine room Assistant Machine Operators, and, I would like to know who the Machine Operators are...But I digress from my message mmission. Actually I would like to addess the Profficency Numbers...If you are a 12 hr. employee, you need to keep an eye on your 6:30 numbers...They are being stolen from you. They are being spit with the other 12 hr shift on the 2nd shift numbers. There is no one monitoring the numbers you receive before the back shift takes over. Back shift is stealing your numbers! And we all know that Preformance Issues can effect your job.

GD your there to do a job and get paid. that job is whatever they tell you do or whatever machine to run. Don't like it quit then. To many people get to thinking because they work at a place they have seniority or a right to run the place themselves. I hate to burst your bubble, you don't get over it and do your job. Get paid go home. Simple.
