I don't think anyone does. Since it became all about the money and they shut out all of the local groups from the schools and such, I don't pay much attention.

Its now a bluegrass festival in the middle of August. There are NO ANIMALS allowed on the grounds this year. The Coon Dog Races are a thing of the past. Its supposed to be a big Bluegrass Fest/Flea Market/Swap Meet. See you there.

I grew up at the coon chase going with my grandpa and uncle; I cant believe its over what a load. Yeah there was some trouble over the years but it also was alot of fun and chance to catch up with old friends. I sure wish someone would rethink this decision. I live in Indiana now but would love to bring my family to it.

Haven't heard for certain about that, but I do remember reading the article in the Kenton Times that stated they weren't planning on using the 'northern'parking area,or the land across the highway & would only be using the original 100 acres for the event. There wasn't any specific mention of a flea market either.

My guess is you ain't gonna be drinking beer there. They're aiming for a "family friendly" atmosphere.

Head to the event in Lima ... well ran last year and lots of fun. Kenton will probably still have the dog trials Labor Day weekend just like last year along with the ones at the beginning of July. Last year both events were invitation only.

I do not attend. Once they treated the local civic and school groups like they did that was it for me.

So is it for sure now that there is no dog trials, carts, or drinking? I'm not driving 5 hours to leave my dogs in the heat all day.

NO DOGS ALLOWED. NO DOG RACES, and NO GOLF CARTS. DO NOT BRING YOUR DOGS, I REPEAT DO NOT BRING YOUR DOGS. There are no animals of ANY kind allowed except for people with a handicap helper animals. This is a bluegrass festival and flea market. Kenton does not have a National any more, no more dog races, no animals of any kind, read the website.

go to Lima to the fairgrounds on labor day. Max's flea market is just like the coon chase. actually it was more laid back and safer in my opinion. we took our kids and had a great time. you can get a campsite for $50 and that's for 3 days of camping.
