yes going to the hospitaal for a uti is not an emergency BUT when it takes a week to get into your family doctor, there is no other options left open, now if kenton had urgent care, now maybe that would work??
Mark wrote:
In the defense of hmh.....I dont work at hmh but work at another hospital. When people show up at a hospital and need transferred the hospital cant just throw you in a sqauad and send you to another hospital. You have to have another hospital and another physican at that hospital that accepts you as a patient and will assume your care. This often can take well over an hour.
also going to the er for a UTI is not a reason to go to an er. That is something to go to an urgent care or famiy doctor for. There is nothing emergent about a UTI. You are charged 400 dollars because you were seen emergently by a doctor, nurses, had labs. Things cost more when done emergently.
No matter where you live people will complain about the hospital. Go to columbus and they complain about those hospitals, go to findlay and people call it death valley. No matter where you go there will be complaints.
please

I also have had good and bad experiences with HMH. My brother had a nearly fatal car accident and they were wonderful with him and my family. Yes he was transported, but while he was there they did everything to could to keep him stable. It was a very foggy night and it too med-vac several hours to get there. I believe that if it weren't for those people at HMH the outcome would have been very dreadful. I have also taken my own kids out there thank god for nothing more than things like stitches and other minor kid things, they were also wonderful with them. Sounds to me like a lot of you just want something to complaine about and use it as a doctor instead of what for emercency situations
if you had good and bad experiences, then why did you not tell us the bad experiences. must overpowered the so called good experiences.

i went hmh because my ankle was hurting very bad from a fall. ER told me that i just bruised it really bad and to walk as tolerated. After two days the ER called me and said that my ankle was broke to come in to get a cast. i told them that they are kidding me but of course not. I understand that they dont read exrays but it took them two days to find someone who could?

I can say, they have saved my grandson's life twice now for different things, and I will never badmouth them. I have had some crappy experiences, but that's the way it is anywhere.

I don't understand why ppl go to the ER for stupid shit alot of the time you can ask your local pharmisist give them detail... itchy, burns when you pee ect. and they will let you know of a over the counter med that will clear up a UTI in 3 days unless its goverment paid medical with FREE perscriptions then you don't care if your running up a medical bill, because it's everyone else that has to pay for your coverage and if you have insc. thru your job then you are just raising their priemums for going to the ER so now your rates raise then you bitch, cause they are to high everyone knows ER is for emergencies and a itcy burning crotch is not and emergency you had plenty of time to get a DR appt.

I am so tired fo hearing ppl complain about HMH ER or any of their other Depatments first we are NONE perfect and that includes the medical field though all the trianing in the world does NOT keep us from making human error I have had several surgery's in my life a few @ HMH and can say I have had good and not the best care @ out of town Hospitals then right @ yours truly HMH. so PLEASE the next time you choose to bash the very ppl who are trying to treat you or understand your need with the best of their ability REMEMBER they are just human and can only do what policy will allow for your need and you always have the right to go to any Hospital or Dr you want !!!!
Thank You to all the professionals in the medical field and to the staff in the HMH ER and the GREAT job you do !!!!!!

Amen most of the complainer's are the very ppl who wouldn't have a clue about resposibiliy or holding a very demanding job and dealing with the public and minor complaints that us tax payers are paying for and then NO you don't have the right to choose where you go for your medical care so get a job and INS, or stop complaining !!!!

Most who complain probably don't work or have insurance. They go to ER for the common cold. Probably live on government assistance too.

That is ridiculous. If the doctors and nursing staff at the ER can't tell the difference between an addict and a person with a legitimate medical condition that requires pain medication, then they are not proficient at their job. To withhold pain medication from a patient whose situation warrants it , could easily be construed as malpractice. Because yes they will administer pain meds at the ER. They will give out a SMALL script for mild pain meds if the situation requires it. When my wife gets one of her migraines, they ALWAYS take care of her and it involves Demerol to kill the migraine.

i went there 2yrs ago cuz i was havin really bad mirgrains for like 3months straight. they did NO test on me just gave me meds. and a shot. well my left side went numb. and i went in...i had a stroke RIGHT THERE INFRONT OF THE DOC. and he told me i was to young to have a stroke. so he sent me home. i THEN went to st. ritas and got checked out,..come to find out i had blood clots in my brain, and have a blood clotting disorder. i was in the hospital for 10days recovering from my strokes, and t.i.a's. i endured all kids of therepy. i even lost my short-term memory!!

im 23 now. and on tons of meds!! i almost lost my life cuz my brain was so swelled, cuz of that 1 doc that didnt do his job!

so hmh does NOT always know what they are doing. i think they need to get the RIGHT docs in and do their damn jobs!!

Human error is what kills people. Professionals at HMH. Please, they sat there and talked about my wife when she was having a heart attack. When they wanted to transport her they made the statement to the EMT's that they will need additional help to lift her because she was a big one. Almost 500lbs. That right there is so unprofessional.

This is what happened to me. The only difference is I couldn't walk the next day and my wife called the squad. I had the best insurance around at the time. Honda insurance they still didn't do their job correctly at HMH. I hope you filed a lawsuit against them.

I worked full time at honda when I had my stroke and they misdiagnosed me. Because of their error I am just now getting to where I can work. After 4 years of theraphy. Of course I can no longer work in a factory due to the pace, but I can work at a fast food place. I was making $23 and hour before I lost my job due to my stroke. HMH is a joke. Before you ask no, I don't qualify for disability because of my age, high school diploma, and I can read and write english. The problem now is my short term memory is totally gone and after being up for 3 hours I need a nap. What job can I get? Not everyone that goes to HMH is on welfare. A hospital should know what it is doing. They are trained in their profession. They are there to save lives not destroy them like they did mine.
