This hospital is such a joke! Its sad that when we have an emergency we are limited to go to this so called hospital. Then they bill you and you feel like you have been robbed. What are some horrible experiences you have had going to this hospital?

The worst of many expirences that I have had at HMH is when I had a heart attack. I woke up a few times one time I heard the doctor say he didn't know what to do. Then my arms felt like they were being pulled off. So the brillant man decided he better send me somewhere that the doctor knew what to do. I will have to give him credit for that but he should have done it when the EMT gave him my vitals, while I was still in the ambulance. Thank God Dr. Rajjoub in Lima knew what to do!
Another time I had lost some of my vision in 1 eye.
The ER doctor send me to an eye doctor in Lima. We had just enough time to get there before the office closed so we thought! When we got there with only a few mins to spare,we found that the doctor had moved his office to Findlay over a year prior. The only time I go there now is if I can not say that I don't want to and if stitches are all I need. I have threatened to have "DON'T TAKE ME TO HMH" tattooed on my chest.
P.S.They charged me over $500 to send me to an empty office.

actually when my son broke his leg. the emts asked me if i wanted to go straight to Lima since his orthro dr was there. so no they dont always take you to this god for saken band aid station. i refuse to take any of my children to HMH. the XRAY department sucks. they cant even read XRAYS right. had to go to the orthro dr to find out that there was a break in my other childs ankle. the break was at the growth plate. needless to say that they NEVER received the money for those xrays!!!!!!!!!!

well genuis, thats the point. we shouldnt have to go out of town. if it wasnt for the horrible reputation this hospital has made, then we would save gas for the one that we have in town. its a waste of time and money to go to this hospital. i took my child their when she was first born and they told us that she just had a small cold. her breathing was abnormal so we of course did not believe them. we took her to mary rutan in bellefontaine and they told us that she had bronchilitus and she could have died if we didnt take her there! everytime you go to HMH they act like they are frustrated or bored! they never seem to really care. worthless i tell you!

Every hospital has it's flaws. Wasn't it just a year ago people were dying at Mary Rutan because of a Doctor? I'm thinking they were getting staph infections? I have had both good and bad experiences at HMH as well as MR and Blanchard Valley. It's all in the doctor. If you go to the ER, fill out your Press Ganey and send it in. That's the only way to make a change.

.

If you had a UTI, that is all they would have to do. They just do a quick stick test to check for bacteria first. If that test comes out positive then they give you the antibiotic and you are on your way. Unless you didn't really have a UTI' it sounds like they did a good job.

My sister was having her baby early and they took her to HMH and kept her there for a few hours. Then they finally sent her to Lima where she had the baby but he died a few minutes after. If they knew they couldn't do anything to help, then why in the world did they keep her there so long? They should have taken her straight to Lima. It was a horrible...

I've had pretty "decent" experiences there, except with that Asian Dr. with the Mexican name (still can't figure that out). He is the rudest Dr. I have ever seen. Every time I have gone there he is such a smart ass. I don't know if he doesn't like women or just people in general. He really needs to work on his people skills. I feel sorry for the staff that gets stuck working with him.

In the defense of hmh.....I dont work at hmh but work at another hospital. When people show up at a hospital and need transferred the hospital cant just throw you in a sqauad and send you to another hospital. You have to have another hospital and another physican at that hospital that accepts you as a patient and will assume your care. This often can take well over an hour.

also going to the er for a UTI is not a reason to go to an er. That is something to go to an urgent care or famiy doctor for. There is nothing emergent about a UTI. You are charged 400 dollars because you were seen emergently by a doctor, nurses, had labs. Things cost more when done emergently.

No matter where you live people will complain about the hospital. Go to columbus and they complain about those hospitals, go to findlay and people call it death valley. No matter where you go there will be complaints.

I had my 1st child at HMH and my 2nd at MR and can tell you my experience at HMH was much better than MR. The reason they quit doing OB at HMH is because they became a critical access facility and cut costs by eliminating the insurance and the 24 hr staff. There wasn't an actual OBGYN in town and most people with insurance wanted an OBGYN. I think it was a great business decision to eliminate the department. I'm not happy with it and still think we need an OB unit, but business is the name of the game any more.

I also have had good and bad experiences with HMH. My brother had a nearly fatal car accident and they were wonderful with him and my family. Yes he was transported, but while he was there they did everything to could to keep him stable. It was a very foggy night and it too med-vac several hours to get there. I believe that if it weren't for those people at HMH the outcome would have been very dreadful. I have also taken my own kids out there thank god for nothing more than things like stitches and other minor kid things, they were also wonderful with them. Sounds to me like a lot of you just want something to complaine about and use it as a doctor instead of what for emercency situations
