Thought they were suppose to be cracking down and giving ppl tickets for being on their cell phones talking or texting while driving? I still see so many out on the roads talking on their phone and end up either causing an accident or holding up traffic all because there not paying attention..Bad enough I've seen the cops and sheriff in this town doing it to.This is so dangerous !! I mean seriously a conversation is that important to take at that moment that it cant wait til you get home???So instead ppl rather take their lives and others in their hands.Awesome huh...

It's not illegal to talk on the cell phone while driving, only texting. Texting while driving is a secondary offense, meaning they can't give you a citation just because they see you texting. To be cited for texting while driving there has ti be some other violation. For drivers under 18 it is a primary offense, they can receive a ticket just for texting while driving.

My car was wrecked by a woman staring at her phone. Came out of a side street and never even looked my way. She nailed my car right in front of drivers side front wheel and hit so hard that her car bent my car's unibody and totalled my car. People have to smarten up and understand how dangerous the practice of texting while driving really is.

People will hate this, but I think texting while driving should be equal to DUI. Being impaired is being impaired.
I live on one of the busier roads in town, and I can't count how many times I've seen vehicles go over the line.

It would be the same, no serious action on the part of the courts.

DUI or IMPAIRED drivers should have their vehicle taken away and sold. The money could be used to help with the cost of a mandatory jail sentence. Zero tolerance!

I think the parents who are constantly turning around attending to their children are the most dangerous drivers. i have seen people all over the road because they were screaming at kids or dealing with screaming kids. They scare me more than people talking on phones. Texting is a whole different issue.

ill tell you what. i text and drive all the time. NEVER once have I wrecked or came close. You know why that is? Because every other I look at the road. Yesterday I tried writing a note for my daughters teacher last minute in the car and THAT was a hell of a lot riskier than texting considering I had to write it on my lap. You know what else is distracting? Changing radio stations (which come standard in every car), having my children in the car, opening sauce for chicken nuggets... but none of that is illegal huh? Texting is no more dangerous than anything else I just mentioned. Go ahead and comment on how I shouldnt be doing any of these while driving. Everyone does it, and this is supposed to be America the free, correct? So as long as you pay attention to the road, you can do any of these things. You get the few dumba$$e$ who forget theyre driving that ruin it for the rest of us. I will continue to text and drive. I have just as much freedom as anyone else.

umm you forgot one word at the end of your first sentence YET. Yes you do have freedoms just like everyone else and like everyone else you do not have the freedom to put others lives in danger. Every time you take your eyes off the road to do what you say you do you are not only putting everyone in your car in danger but also those who are on the road . Why would you put peoples lives in danger by trying to write a note in the car instead of at home before you leave? why wouldn't you open your childs sauce in the lot at fast food joint before you leave instead of putting everyone elses lives in danger by turning around while your driving to do this? Why couldn't you wait till you stopped at a stop light to change a radio channel? True everyone has freedoms but remember if you do have a serious accident then you have not only lost all your freedoms but you will also cost the freedoms of those who are involved either by serious injury or death. As you say you will continue it is your freedom just please don't want others to feel sorry when a serious accident happens and you want those to forgive so you can keep your freedoms

If they would enforce the seat belt law for minors, wouldn't be as many parents having to turn around to deal with kids.

All I see is the same excuses drunks use for their drinking and driving. Writing a note on your lap? Opening nuggets? Seriously, are you crazy? You do know you could have written the note the previous night before school. You could have pulled into a parking spot provided by the fast food joint. No, not everyone does it (which is an excuse children use). I don't text and drive. Heck I don't even own a cellphone. I hate those things in every way.

Umm totally agree. Passengers radio changing cds looking at a map how about all u hipocrits eating ur burger n fries while driving! Yeah texting kills. People r such freaks! Get real. This is another money maker for the government. I hope they ticket u for stuffing ur face with fast food u bought at the drive thru! Next adults wont be allowed to have passengers cause they might distract the driver AND they will jack up gas prices even more. Lmao!

i simply did not have time to write it this morning before i left, i forgot with getting everyone breakfast and the other million things i was doing. tell me youve never forgotten anything? Whats stranger is I cannot stand drunk drivers. They are IMPAIRED. I am not impaired. i am paying attention and that is why i do not have accidents or close calls. I can still pay attention. if you all expect me to believe that you sit with your hands on 10 and 2 and dont look around or get distracted i will simply not believe it. You can do anything as long as you pay attention. and I do. This country will not continue to rape me of my rights. No one else is in danger, because I am not posing a danger. I am an adult. I have it under control. Enough said.
