Obviously there was some kind of indication that Mr. Hawkins needed extra help in school or he wouldnt have been put in the "slow learners" class. Perhaps the slow learners education in Kent is SOOO GOOD that it helped Billy succeed in the end?

I will say this for anyone reading this: if you have a child that IS labelled anything: add, adhd, handicapped, autistic, etc... KENT IS THE PLACE TO SCHOOL your child. In fact, the only complaint I have about Kent schools ( I went there and my children did too) is that Kent forgets that they have NORMAL CHILDREN. All the focus is put on "slow learners" and if you're "normal" you will be ignored.

Also, if you're African-American, you can do no wrong here in Kent. You are special and will treated as such. Fail your class and you'll be passed !!!

Theresa, read the book Keeping Black Boys out of Special Education, by Jawanza Kunjufu. It says there are a diproportionately number of males, especially black, that are in special ed. You are not treated special, but your true talents and abilities are nurtured. How would Mr. Hawkins become an associate dean if not qualified? You sound a little racist. I would not allow my child to be passed unless he earned it.
so you say

My brother is a slow learner and needs extra attention. My family and I have tried a lot but he needs somebody who can understand him. Do you think my brother will be able to fit in that school as he is 22 years? Is it a private or government school?
