Not into all that goes in a hood...ie crack heads, thuggies walking around in droopy dumpy drawers and music so loud thier cars sound like they are going to shake apart! Yep..give me clean and pretty any day.. That sounds like the parking lot at Tremper or Bradford on any weekday around 3 pm and has nothing to do with someones race. You really need to see more of the world.

In fact, I've lived in Kenosha since 1975 and I've never heard of the KKK visiting a Kenosha school. Hey "home town girl," post a link or give us some other form of evidence that this actually happened because I find it hard to believe that this occurred.

i was hoping somebody, anybody who has lived in kenosha for any period of time would actually take the time to answer my original questions directly rather than rant about how they either hate or love minorities. Personally i don't care if minorities are a good thing or a bad thing, i just want to know how integrated/segrated they are in kenosha (see original post). thanks to any proper answers

I see no way of putting a percentage on something like this, especially for Racine. Its hard to even define a "neighborhood" in Racine as far as I can tell. 2. I never pay too much attention to what "kind" of white people are living anywhere. First off, I see very few of the "mullet" wearing, redneck sorts you mention. Of course we have our few "wiggers" (pardon if that sounds derogatory)but that seems to be a pretty common cultural thing with youth these days. Also, I never knew that Metallica was somehow related to being a redneck, mullet thing.(?) Seriously though, a middle class white family may have a "gangster wanna-be" son, they may play Metallica on their CD player, and their kids might play soccer. Whats with all the classifying of EVERYBODY? I never give any of this too much attention.

And i am white I agree with the other posters, I also would also like to see proof of this. I was born and raised here, went to school here, and have never seen or heard of the klan in the schools. Actually if I remember right, back in the 80's the small group of KKK who did reside here got ran out by the white people. I still remember showing up at the scene of the last fight minutes after it had occurred. It was a rather violent turn of events. No casualties, lots of people in pain, the Klan took a serious beating. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the KKK left the state back in the early 90's. It was a get out or else kinda thing presented by the governor. If by chance the group has returned it is most likely a new set of people.

To Meesa's original question, Kenosha is to a point, but not as much as it was 30 or 40 years ago. There are still area's that I am careful when I enter after dark, and as you can see from the last few days around here, shootings can happen just about anywhere. The big money in Kenosha continues to build new housing areas and the 70's neighborhoods although still very nice have become more mixed.

Thanks for your response...what areas exactly would you not go after dark? and what races live in these areas? are gangs in kenosha primarilly black? or are there gangs made up of differant races? are there still any white european gangs?

I grew up in Racine and lived in Kenosha almost 15 years. During the 1980s a lot of people of color moved to southern Wisconsin (Racine, Milwaukee, Beloit & Kenosha) for the higher welfare payments. Federal AFDC payments were also considerably higher to get them to move there and take some of the social services load off Illinois, especially Cabrini-Green. Thankfully I was able to relocate to a nicer town before my kids got into high school.
