Oregon State Police abuse power

If I smoked marijuana my name would be in the crime section along with Oregon State Police Officer Petersen's this week. However, I don't, but still want the incident to be a part of public record. Officer Petersen pulled my friend over for not signaling for at least 100 feet before changing lanes on Hwy 97 on Sunday near hwy 140. He informed her that he issues warnings outside of the car, a LIE if I am not mistaken, as it was just a way to remove her from the car. My friend was trusting, after all this if the first time she has been pulled over in the 13 years she has carried a drivers licencse. He then began quesitoning us because he claimed he smelled marijuana in the car. My friend's car smells like cherry bubblegum and marijuana has never been smoked in it, so this was also likely a lie, or Officer Petersen should consider that his nose is not qualified to make that assesment and seek further training. Officer Petersen then noted that I was acting nervous. I was. I now had reasons not to trust him, and was unsure how far he was willing to go. I stated that I felt he was only suspicious because I have long hair and a beard. He asked to search the car, I told him I didn't feel he had a legal right to and that it wasn't my car to give that permission for anyways. My friend had aggreed to a search. So there we sat along Hwy 97 with 3 squad cars while her car was searched. There is no way this appeared to be the routine traffic stop it should have been to passing motorists, and it didn't feel like one either. I felt violated. If you have experienced the same, speak up, it is not OK.

As I suspected, officer Petersen didn't make a genuine mistake. There is a pattern of poor police work documented here (and who knows how many similar instances that have not been shared). There are two options.(maybe more?)
A. He consistently pulls people over for something routine and subsequently pulls them out of their car because he "smells" marijuana because he is an ineffective and poorly trained officer or
B. He intentionally pulls people over and subsequently pulls them out of their car because he "smells" marijuana because he is a corrupt police officer who is abusing his power.
Both options are unacceptable and I would hope that they would be dealt with. I am not a citizen of K-falls or Oregon (though I paid taxes their one summer) and am not personally flushing my taxes dollars down the drain on this man's paycheck, but if I was I'd demand more from my state police.

Also, two people took the time to disagree with my previous statement? To be clear, it was not an opinion that I was putting forward. I was merely relaying a factual experience and how I felt about it.
Thanks to those who shared their experience. I also wrote a complaint letter to the state police and would recommend you do the same.
